Good. I feared that nobody else survived the crash.
You remember what happened, right?
You must have hit your head.
We've just crashed on an alien planet.
We were Omega Team Bravo (or OTB for short), sent on a mission to deliver supplies from Earth to the planet Ethray. (OUT OF CONTEXT EDIT: Would you look at that. Ethray is actually an anagram of Earth with a Y on the end. Isn't the subconscious funny.)
I don't remember how we crashed, but it seems that something pretty bad happened here. There aren't many resources about.
You remember your name, right?
You don't?
Well you better remember then.
We will rendezvous at the following coordinates.

Welcome to Stranded, a roleplaying game set on a post-apocalyptic alien planet.
I'm going to be your Game Master for this roleplay, controlling the enviroment, monsters, and determining (with my own secret and entirely fair methods of randomization) whether whatever your character is trying to do actually works or not.
I suppose you want to start playing straight away, but first let me go over what the rules are.
No roleplay would be any fun without rules preventing crazy players from spamming attacks, godmodding, and doing other just-not-fun things.
So, here we go.
Don't spam attacks or any other action. Use common sense and think this before you post: "Would I be able to do two attacks before the monster can attack, or not?" Don't worry if you can't judge this properly. As the Game Master, I'll be there to judge when you have to stop and let others do something.
Don't tell players about rules that don't exist. What's okay is "I don't think you can attack twice, your weapon is too heavy." What's not is "You can't attack twice, you can only attack once before somebody else goes!" or "You can't attack now, your character is too big and slow to get another turn! The small and dexterous rogue goes!" This isn't a pen-and-paper RP. We don't have STR or DEX stats like D&D and Pathfinder games. This is closer to make-believe than those dice-rolling and rule-ridden games.
Don't take too many turns. This is very similar to the "don't spam" rule, but it means that after you have done a lot of attacks in a row, you shouldn't wait one or two posts of other people before doing heaps in a row again. A general rule of thumb is that you should wait a number of turns equal to the amount you took plus one. So if I did 2 attacks, I would wait 3 turns from others before taking another turn. Or if I just did one attack, I would wait two. Especially don't take 2 turns, then as soon as you do another turn, do another two in a row. That is too much, and falls under this rule and the "don't spam" rule. Don't do it.
Don't godmod. If you've roleplayed before and know what this means, good. If not, godmodding is... well, it's controlling the story when you're not the GM. For example, attacking someone, then announcing the consequences yourself when you should let the GM/receiving player accounce. Or looking around, then announcing what you see. The GM should tell you what you see. Oh yeah, GM means game master. But anyway, don't do that. This is one of the most important rules.
Really, rule number one is... Don't be an "I like to make people angry and have no fun" person.
So, you think you like the idea of this? You want to apply? Sure.
Application Template:
Name of character (This can be anything you like.):
Race of character (This could be an existing real or fictional race, or made-up entirely, or a mix):
Description of race (if it it is made-up):
Backstory of character (Were you adopted? Did you know their real parents? How did you come to be a part of the OTB?):
What items do you have? (You are allowed one backpack, a slim design space suit, a bottle of water, a lighter, 5 rations, one simple gun of your choice, a crowbar, and a couple of other things that you choose, like trinkets or more survival gear.):
Description of character (What skills do you have? What do you look like?):
You have a pretty high chance of being accepted, unless you're being ridiculous.
Once we have about 5 or 6 players, we will start. Until we have 10 players, we will however keep accepting.
Oh, one last thing. Whenever I want to tell you something out of context, like something important about what's happening that isn't from the view of the players, or if you want to talk about something out of context, double parenthesizes (()) should be used. Single parenthesizes () are considered to be IN CONTEXT so be careful or you might slip up the story with misunderstandings.
For people that like examples:
Name of character (This can be anything you like.): Indio
Race of character (This could be an existing real or fictional race, or made-up entirely, or a mix): Human
Description of race (if it it is made-up): Not made up.
Backstory of character (Were you adopted? Did you know their real parents? How did you come to be a part of the OTB?): Grew up with a dream to be a sorcerer if magic was discovered, but tech was discovered instead, so he became a spacefarer and joined the OTB.
What items do you have? (You are allowed one backpack, a slim design space
suit, a bottle of water, a lighter, 5 rations, one simple gun of your
choice, a crowbar, and a couple of other things that you choose, like
trinkets or more survival gear.): All listed things, gun is a small, easily hid, high accuracy, low power pistol, a head of a pig, and some rope.
Description of character (What skills do you have? What do you look like?): Has a lot of charisma and is very dexterous, but isn't very strong. Has moderate intelligence and perception. Not very good at holding his own in a straight fight, but uses slightly more stealth and uses gun strategically to win battles. About 160cm height, 50kg weight, black hair, rather slim and light body, brown eyes.
Godmodding example (godmodding in bold):
I look around and see a conveniently placed chandelier above the monster, then shoot it and knock themonster out. Correctly done, this would look like this:
Player: I look for something I can use to attack the monster.
GM: You see a conveniently placed chandelier above the monster.
Player: I shoot it.
GM: You hit. The chandelier falls and knocks the monster out.
See how much more fun everybody can have without godmodding?
Backstory of character: joined OTB to impress ex-girlfriend, who dumped him ((Him? or me?))
What items do you have:one backpack, a slim design space suit, a bottle of water, a lighter, 5 rations, one pistol, a crowbar, Photo of family, Grappling Hook
Description of character: Intermediate computer programming & engineering skills, Not very charismatic, or dexterous, or strong ((XD)), high intelligence, high perception. 6ft 1in, 150lb, ((US or EU?)) Brown hair, semi skinny, blue eyes.

((I normally, he in out of context (like this) text.))
Name of character: Quinn Eliana DuPree, uses the call-sign Songbird.
Race of character: Genetically-altered Human
Description of race: A normal human, but Quinn was selected for a militarized training program as an infant that twisted her fragile genes. As a result, she is hypersensitive and is a talented mimic.
Backstory of character: Quinn was raised by her military mother Julian and her musician of a father, Cael. While Julian was pregnant, she volunteered in fetus to be the subject of military training upon birth. Julian was able to watch over her daughter as she grew, and aside from her schooling and intense work-out regimen, Quinn had a relatively normal child. Or, at least, what her family deemed as normal. Upon having two more children after Quinn, her younger siblings Fiona and Cameron, her mother retired from the military full-time. Quinn went on to be an elite student and athlete, and followed her pre-determined military path to the stars. From there, she became a member of OTB.
What items do you have? (You are allowed one backpack, a slim design space suit, a bottle of water, a lighter, 5 rations, one simple gun of your choice, a crowbar, and a couple of other things that you choose, like trinkets or more survival gear.): Quinn has a few items stored in her backpack aside from the space-suit she was wearing in the crash. She has barely used food rations, enough to last her five meals at maximum consumption, a bottle of purified drinking water, a small handgun, and traded out her standard crowbar for a lighter nightstick. She also carries her dog-tags, engraved with her necessary identification and a necklace given to her by her now-deceased father.
Description of character: Quinn stands at an unassuming 5' 3", and weighs around 130 pounds. She has a naturally curvaceous figure, with a lot of toned muscle mass from her tight exercise schedule. She has brown hair that is normally kept in a tight braided bun, but when let loose, hangs at about her waist. She also has pale, freckled skin, and dark blue eyes. She has two vertical scars trisecting her right eyebrow, and a large burn scar disfiguring most of her left bicep, which is normally covered by her space suit. For abilities, as previously mentioned, Quinn's senses are hyper-developed, giving her enhanced sight, hearing, touch, taste, and smell, as well as an enhanced metabolism, so she can go longer without eating, and a powerful talent in mimicry. She's agile and quick on her feet, but is more built for speed than stamina.
Description of race :is an experimental wolf that scientist modify with technology, serums and science but mostly technology hence he name wolfgear to stand talk be like humans but the main purpose is to fight and protect but only few can survive the pain and suffering they go through (Basically like rocket raccoon from guardians of the galaxy) and doesn't need to eat much or drink but if they do they eat like wolfs (Ha jokes)
Backstory of character : one of the few to survive the program and was considered one of the dumbest but agile wolfgear that's how he survived he joined OTB because he was assigned to it
What items do you have? :spare parts special gauntlet that connect to his arms and boosts his strength a lot of food and water and some syringes with strength, agility, speed 1 per type and medkit
Description of character :he is dumb tell him what to do he'll do it but he thinks about it when its a fatal order he's dumb because the scientist made him strong and completely forgot about the intelligence dose he is the brute of the team can resist a lot of pain because of the program he is agile too

The sudden transmission had brought me back to full consciousness after the crash. I was groggy and disoriented, but nonetheless, I activated my own radio. "Copy that. I'm headed to the given coordinates now." I nursed a sore lump on the back of my head as I stood up. I oriented myself, and started heading in the general direction of the coordinates given in the abrupt transmission.
Backstory of character: Janine was born to human parents in a techno-slum, a place where machines ruled and there wasn't much work for fleshy beings. She was crammed into a tenement and like anyone who had any realistic aspirations about doing well in the place, learnt how to fix and repair machines. She even spent her time at home tinkering, her parents encouraged it as her skills were her ticket out of here, turning their utility room into a workshop.
After that poor excuse for a school was done with, she managed to get a job on a repair yard. Saving up for her ticket out of there. It was a hard decision as she had to leave her parents and the community of her tenement but it was something she had to do.
Heading to the more auspicious cities, she found society less concentrated and more selfish. People preferred to throw away than give and recycle. She walked past a demolition site, with whole reels of coils and consoles just shoved into skips, along with the house-robots.
While she achieved her dream of escaping the slums, she felt a bit empty. She joined the mercantile navy, and after her initial training, joined the company of Omega Team Bravo. Her goal was always to aspire to be a Field Engineer, it gave her a purpose for her skills that she wouldn't otherwise get in civilian life.
What items do you have?
Slim design space suit (Engineer Variant)
Backpack:
Field deployment Kit:
a bottle of water
a lighter
5 rations
Engineering Tool Kit:
Hyperspanner - A multi-purpose engineering tool
Welder - Melds heavy metals together (finite use)
Magnetic Probe - Shuts off fuel flow to a system, making it safe to work on Gravitic Calipers, Hyperspanner)
Gravity Calipers - Does all the fiddly bits of engineering (slows engineering tasks but guarantees safety).
Magnetic Boots (Heavy metallic boots that work during gravity failures)
Description of character (What skills do you have? What do you look like?):
Janine is relatively short and has a slight build from growing up in poverty, this gives her a low strength & endurance but decent agility. A trait she relied upon in basic training. She has her hair tied back into a ponytail, it's simple and messy as a result of the kind of works she gets into. Janine has an average intelligence, she did well to learn in a backwater society but could only dream of prestigious universities. Janine is highly sociable, growing up with a strong community tradition in an impoverished environment. She dislikes loners and greedy individuals as a result.
Aside from her engineering skills, she has passed basic training, which gave her skills in small arms fire and bounding overwatch and fire and maneuver tactics.
Accepted.

You are in a vast, desert-like area lightly touched with signs of life being here long ago. Buried in the dust and the sand you can see the remnants of former market stalls, buildings, and factories. It looks to you that this area hasn't had much life for around 50 years.

Backstory of character: Michael was born to a middle-class family on Ajax, one of space stations surrounding Saturn. At an early age, he was prodigious with academia, easily earning himself the top marks in his classes. Couple that with his dedication and determination that he applies to whatever he does, he was among the brightest minds that the Ajax station could offer.
Seeing his potential, Micheal's parents sent him to Earth to learn at a prestigious university, His journey into space was not without training, however. As everyone in a station had to pass a physical exam, so before he could be placed on a ship, he had to be fit for duty, Due to the habits that formed because of his upbringing, he failed the physical test a few times before he had passed. He was soon sent on a colony ship to Earth to learn.
Micheal studied at many universities, becoming quite eloquent and learned in many sciences. While he had spread out his studies quite widely, his particular focus was on Physics and Chemistry. When he graduated, he joined a few science vessels for research. After a couple of years, he was recommended as an asset for Omega Team Bravo, as they had lacked a scientist at the time. Michael joined them after barely passing another physical exam. The pay was good, and he was able to do what he liked. On a routine supply trip, the sirens began to blare, forcing him to make a break for the escape pod near the laboratory. As the ship shattered in front of his eyes, his vision became dark as he passed out.
What items do you have?:
- A slim design space suit designed specifically for research work. It prevents the entry of toxins, pathogens, and radiation while still being lightweight.
- A backpack.
- A bottle of water.
- A set of rations.
- A lighter.
- A research laptop. It's powerful enough to run complex physics simulations, and it has plenty of memory.
- A set of research tools. Lifeform scanner, harvester kit, set of fiberglass containers, and several other things of similar caliber.
- A Needlegun. It is a fairly specialized gun made for research purposes. Made mostly for nonlethal takedowns, it fires darts with varying degrees of sedatives and poisons. When necessary, it can be modified to fire bolts with the strength of a crossbow, though nothing nearly as strong as a gunshot. Bolts can be easily retrieved, as they are sturdy, but needles usually break upon retrieval, and even if it doesn't, it becomes unusable. The weapon uses pressurized air and the previously stated ammunition to fire, and if the weapon lacks either, it fails to function.
- A spare set of ammunition for the needlegun; needles, bolts, chemicals, and air canisters.
Description of character: Michael is fairly spindly and thin, as per his job, He has short, neat black hair and fair skin. He has brown eyes that are usually accompanied by a pair of eyeglasses. Although he is trained for physical action, he prefers not to do so. He loves learning new things so its no surprise that he takes his research very seriously. In combat, he prefers to stay back and hit enemies from range.
If I do not reply to my posts, I either have no internet connection, or am busy with college work. Alternatively, I may be writing up the post now. It all depends on the situation.

The voice stirred her awake, she didn't know quite where she was but she was very uncomfortable. It was only after she opened her eyes and began to move that she realized what kind of trouble she was in. She nursed the bruise on her head, an obvious bump from her ride down.
Coming round a bit more she realized she was in escape pod, one of these military-grade ones where they guarantee being safe from its home ship blowing up but are not so good at atmospheric re-entries. She tried the hatch handle but it refused to budge, she kicked it a few times with her magnetic boots achieving very little but a headache-inducing sound.
She reached for her trusty hyperspanner in her tool kit which fortunately joined her in the pod. Giving it a few wrist actions, the bolt fell and the hatch sprung open. The cold air from her pod mixed with the warm humid air of the place around her producing a slight mist. It lasted a few seconds before she could finally see where she was.
She returned to the pod and collected the backpack that came with the pods, it was enough supplies to last a few days, enough time she hoped for a rescue party. She put her tool kit into the backpack, when she noticed the escape pod display was displaying coordinates. It looked like the pod's computer was still working even if the door controls didn't. Luckily the pod's computer could be removed and carried around, because her map-reading skills were atrocious. She would follow the coordinates and hopefully reunite with her shipmates before the battery ran out.

I nodded once more but did not understand a thing but I assumed he wanted me to go somewhere assuming I had picked up the right smell of the person on the screen I went out side and looked around

I look around and see a conveniently placed chandelier above the monster, then shoot it and knock the monster out.

((This looks rather promising... Here's my app.))
Name of character : Fang
Race of character :Wolfgear
Description of character :he is dumb tell him what to do he'll do it but he thinks about it when its a fatal order he's dumb because the scientist made him strong and completely forgot about the intelligence dose he is the brute of the team can resist a lot of pain because of the program he is agile too
Wow. Nice. Accepted.

Accepted.

You are in a vast, desert-like area lightly touched with signs of life being here long ago. Buried in the dust and the sand you can see the remnants of former market stalls, buildings, and factories. It looks to you that this area hasn't had much life for around 50 years.

Name of character: Michael Johnson
Race of character: Human
