Generally, there are five parties: the Town, the Mafia, Cult, Religion, and some unaligned Neutrals.
In the case of the neutrals, they have many different sects, while the first four are united under one goal abeit with different alignments.
The following spoilers lists each faction as having an alignment, which has several roles per alignment (except for Town Benign, which only has Civilian.)
NOTE: The roles listed in those three spoilers only list their basic abilities and a few attributes. When you get the role in-game, you get a more detailed and better-organized rolecard, so do not worry if the list confuses you.
This faction is split into several alignments:
Town Government: Mayor, Marshall, Press Town Power: Warden, Spy, Veteran, Driver Town Killing: Vigilante, Veteran, Marksman Town Investigative: Coroner, Investigator, Stalker, Lookout Town Protective: Bodyguard, Driver, Doctor Town Support: Partygoer, Psychic, Resurrector Town Benign: Civilian
They have one common goal: Lynch all criminals.
They must kill all members of the mafia, the triad, and any malicious neutrals.
ROLES IN GENERAL: Mayor: Can reveal during the day (Everyone WILL know who you are) and count as four votes permanently. You can not be healed by doctors or guarded two consecutive days. (if you reveal D2 and guarded N2, you can't be guarded at N3, but you can be healed.) (UNIQUE = LIMITED TO 1) Marshall: Can reveal during the day (Everyone WILL know who you are) to allow for four lynchings during the day instead of two permanently. You can not be healed by doctors or guarded two consecutive days. (if you reveal D2 and guarded N2, you can't be guarded at N3, but you can be healed.) (UNIQUE) Press: Interview a person during the night publicly. Your name and your target's name is anonymous. Warden: Select someone at day to be jailed at night. They can choose to execute their prisoner 3 times, but lose all of their four executions if a town was executed. (UNIQUE) Spy: Always read whispers at day. Can choose to read night mafia chat during the night three times. Vigilante: Can shoot someone at night. If they shoot a townie, they must "put their gun away" (not be able to shoot) the following night. They have infinite shots. Veteran: Can go on alert three times. When on alert, they kill everyone visiting them, even if they are night immune. (UNIQUE/ CAN'T BE ROLEBLOCKED) Marksman: Shoot someone at night. They have only four shots, and their shots pierce night immunity, this making it a bit stronger than vigilante. Coroner: Select a grave at the cemetery. They can see what the person last did and their visitors the night they died. In the case of a Janitor or Grave Robber, they can also see their last will, received death note, and role. Investigator: Investigate a person at night. If successful, he will see up to a few possible roles (with one of them being the actual role) that the person may have, which are all related to a clue. Sheriff: Interrogate someone each night. If successful, he will see whatever his target is a town citizen, a member of the mafia, a neutral person causing no harm (Neu. Good, Neu. Benign), a malicious neutral (Neu. Evil, Neu. Killing), or a fanatic of sorts. (Cult/Religion) Stalker: Follow someone at night and see who they visited. (reverse-Lookout) Lookout: Watch someone at night and see who visited them (reverse-Stalker) Bodyguard: Use a bulletproof vest (total of two) at night to protect yourself or go off to protect someone. You will kill the strongest killer visiting your target at the expense of your life. Driver: Swap the visitors of two people. (If a mafia member visits Target 1, they will go to Target 2 instead. If a serial killer visits Target 2, they will go to Target 1 instead) Doctor: Heal yourself (up to two times) or another person with an invincibility serum. This serum is only for that night, and will expire as soon as day begins. Partygoer: Host a party with your target. You will end up roleblocking your target, preventing them from doing their night action. (CAN'T BE ROLEBLOCKED) Psychic: Read the dead chat every night. When you die, you can seance twice to an alive person. Resurrector: Can resurrect a dead townie back to life two times during night. They will be alive the next day. Once they are dead, they can resurrect themselves once and resurrect an additional townie, but only if they have atleast one left when they died. Civilian: Cooperate with the town, and survive as long as you can. You have one bulletproof vest at your disposal.
Goal: Kill all the Mafia's enemies into submission.
ROLES: Godfather: Commands mafiosos at night and let them do the killing for him (select as many targets as there are mafiosos). If there are no mafiosos, the Godfather will kill in person. If the GF does not select or gets roleblocked, the Mafiosos kill independently. He is night immune and thus can not be killed at night by most killers. (UNIQUE/NIGHT IMMUNE) Mafioso: Regular Mafia killers. They are their own slave of your Godfather.... usually. If the Godfather dies, they will become the new GF. Sniper: The Mafia version of the Marksman (still with 4 shots). They act independently from the Godfather everytime. If the GF dies, they will replace him. Kidnapper: The Mafia version of the Warden (still with 3 executions). They can safely execute anyone that is not mafia. They can also kidnap a mafia member for protection, but they can not execute them. Agent: Watch someone at night. They will in return get all observations that Lookouts AND Stalkers can get for that person (who they visited and who visited them). If all the Stalkers and Lookouts are dead, they will become a Mafioso. Consigliere: Investigate someone at night for their EXACT role. Liaison: Choose to "sleep" with someone at night. This will prevent the target from doing their night action (roleblock). (CAN'T BE ROLEBLOCKED) Beguiler: Direct all actions against your first target on your second target, but no vice-versa. You can select yourself and mafia. This is basically a one-sided Driver. Blackmailer: Can prevent someone from speaking during the day. They can also always read whispers, and choose to read night townie (psychic, warden, press, etc.) chat during night three times. Janitor: Select someone to completely remove someone's cause of death, will, death note, and role as soon as they die. That only takes effect if the person was killed that night or lynched the day after. They can only do this three times. Framer: Select two people at night so their investigative results will switch. If all the town investigatives are dead, the Framer will be promoted to a Mafioso.
The Neutrals are just a category of smaller factions, so they are not united under one common goal. Neutral Good: Supplier, Attorney, Martial Artist [Goal: Win with Neutral Benigns and Town] Neutral Benign: Survivor, Amnesiac, Necromancer, Auditor Goal: [Win with Anyone (except Amnesiac, who has to first become a role and then meet the goals of the role he selected)] Neutral Evil: Masochist, Prosecutor, Witch, Thief, Criminal, Judge [Win with Neutral Benigns, Neutral Killings, and Mafia] Neutral Killing: Pyromaniac, Murderer, Mass Murderer [Wins with people of their own role, Neutral Evils, and Neutral Benigns]
ROLES Supplier: Give someone an extra ability at night. If your target has no/unlimited abilities, the gift will fail. Martial Artist: Train someone at night. They will be roleblocked, but the following night, they can choose to defend themselves, killing the strongest killer and being immune to other killers or roleblockers, or attack someone, killing them. Once trained, they can not be selected again. (NIGHT IMMUNE/LIMITED TO 3) Attorney: Make sure your target is still alive. You can choose to protect your target one time by sending a bodyguard there. You and your target must live to the end. Survivor: Survive to the end of the game. You have three bulletproof vests. In late-game, if you are still alive, you can choose to "Move out of Town", thus making you win and be a spectator. Amnesiac: Select any non-unique role. When done so at night, it will take affect the following day silently. If done so at day, it happens immediately but announced to the whole time anonymously.
Once you remembered, you have completed your first goal. Your second goal is to meet the required goals for your new role. Necromancer: Revive any dead person three times. This can be done only at day. Your target is back to life at night. (to prevent insta-lynching of evil roles) Auditor: Convert one person per night to a more useless role 4 times. Neutral Good and Benign become the Survivor, but with no vests. Mafia, neutral evil, and neutral killing become the Criminal role, and Townies become the Civilian. Cult/Religion roles will become a Criminal and Citizen respectively. If the target was already a Survivor (with or without vests), Civilian, or Criminal, than the audit will fail.
Judge: Call court twice. When court is called, there will be no defense and immediate death if majority guilty vote. You will be given 4 votes that day.
Everyone's name will be "Anonymous" that day.
You can also talk to everyone at night (they can't respond) under the disguise as a Press. Criminal: A standard evil role that can't do anything. This only occurs when a Mafia or malicious neutral (evil or killing) was audited. Masochist: A suicidal citizen. Your goal is to die anytime than haunt one person that voted you gulity/visited you. Prosecutor: Get your target lynched while you are still alive to win. Witch: Hypnotize someone each night to visit someone. If they are witch-immune or a non-visiting role, the hypnotizing will fail, but there will be no notification. Thief: Make someone lose an ability at night. If your target has no/unlimited abilities, the steal will fail.
Murderer: Kill one person at night. You will kill any roleblockers. (NIGHT-IMMUNE) Mass Murderer: Visit someone each night to kill all of their visitors. If you kill one person, you can kill again the next night. If you kill 2-3 people, you must wait one night. If you kill 4+ people, you must wait two nights. (NIGHT IMMUNE/UNIQUE) Pyromaniac: Douse someone at night. You douse any roleblockers. Your douses will be silent, but a sheriff, investigator, or consigliere can see who is doused if they visit a doused victim. If you are doused, you can do nothing for one night, and you are clean if you are alive at the end. Your ignition not only kills your doused targets, but EVERY doused target in the game. (NIGHT IMMUNE/LIMITED TO 4)
The cult has no alignments within. It can convert anyone except a certain range of roles. They win with any neutral, but not mafia or town. NOTE: There is a one night cooldown between conversions.
CAN NOT BE CONVERTED:
Town Government
Judge
Town Power (except Driver)
Mafia Power/Killing
Neutral Killing
Any Religion role
ROLES:
Cult Leader: Leads the cult. Can control cultists, as well as to communicate with the cult. If they die, only a randomly-selected Cultist (if there was not a democratic vote to see who succeeds inside the cult) can succeed the CL. If there are no cultists, he will convert in person. For one time in the game, they can call for "a sacrifice", which will act exactly like the Judge's court. (IMMUNE/UNIQUE) Cultist: Can convert someone to a Cultist per night. If they were converted, they lost all of their old role's abilities. Witch Doctor: Can save someone at night, converting them to the cult if they are attacked while healing them. They only have three saves, and once all of them are used, they become a Cultist. Ghost Heretic: Can resurrect a dead person at night, converting them to a Cultist in the process. They can only do this twice, they have to wait one night between each resurrection, and can only resurrect twice. They will be revived at night as if they were revived by a necromancer. When they resurrect two people, they become a Cultist.
The Religion is the Anti-Cult. It wins with Town, Neutral Good, and Neutral Benign.
They can communicate with each other at night like the Mafia or Cult. NOTE: There is a one night cooldown between conversions.
CAN NOT CONVERT
Town Government
Judge
Town Power (except Driver)
Mafia Power/Killing

Any Cult role
Priest: The leader of the Religion. They have the same power as the Cult Leader. (UNIQUE/IMMUNE) Missionary: The religious version of the cultist. They may "ascend" someone at night. If they were converted, they lost all of their old role's abilities. Baptist: The religious version of the Witch Doctor, except that their saves, which are baptisms, only protect against cult conversion but it is permanent. They have 3 baptisms than become a Missionary when they used all of them. Soulseer: Can investigate someone at night to see if they are a "heretic" (a member of the Cult), "of slightly rotten soul-being" (Mafia, Neutral Evil, or Neutral Killing), or "of perfect being." (Town, Neutral Benign, Neutral Good)
Mechanics
The host of the game will decide the rolelist, but the players can choose to repick the host. The host is the OP at first, but than a player will be chosen at random after the first round.
When there are atleast 8 players and atmost 16, the game can begin.
The game starts at the night phase. When the night phase is over, than a day phase initiates with a discussion period. The voting period begins usually 6 IRL hours after discussion begins, but can be started earlier with a vote. If half of the players vote to skip the day, than the day ends and it is straight to the night phase. Only skip if you have no leads. (A poll will be hosted every day phase with two options, skip discussion or skip the day. Simply abstain to not skip.)
The graveyard and rolelist for the round will be shown at the OP.
Day
- 6 real-life hours
- Before discussion, a run through showcase of who died will occur, such as the player, his/her last will (and/or death note that they have gotten), and their role.
DISCUSSION:
- 3 real-life hours
- Discuss any leads.
- If half of the players choose to skip discussion, than voting begins.
VOTING:
- Depends, maximum 3 real-life hours.
- Use all leads to lynch suspicious players. Any player put up for trial can defend, than be judged. If innocent votes outnumber gulity votes, the player on trial is pardoned. If gulity votes outnumber innocent votes, the player on trial dies.
- Typically only two lynches are allowed, but a Marshall reveal can allow four lynches per day for the rest of the game.
Night
- 6 real life hours
- All night actions occur.
- At the end of the night, the host may or may not post descriptions (MUST BE VAGUE) that show which roles are in play. (ex: "Someone is stabbed" can show that there is a Murderer in play, while "There is distant disco music" can show that there is a Partygoer in play.)
- During those descriptions, you can not change your will or death note. You can change them again afterwards if you are alive.
When Dead:
- Don't just leave the game immediately. You could be revived, or in the case of a townie with important information, you could possibly rely information to the Psychic, who can announce in front of the town if he is alive.
- You will be notified if there are Psychics, Resurrectors, Ghost Heretics, and/or Necromancers. If all of them died or can not use their abilites, the host will notify in the IC that there are no more.
End-game
When a conclusion is reached, everyone's role is revealed, even if they left.
Other Mechanics
- IMPORTANT! This game runs on PM's. You must PM the host if you want to do your night action. You can only do Mafia chat, Cult chat, Religion Chat, and "Whispers" (during the day only) in PMs. The host will send you PMs for certain things, like affirmation of action, rolecard, whatever the player died or got roleblocked or something, etc. Title the PMs accordingly.
TITLES:
[MFM] Mafia Chat
[MFM] Cult Chat
[MFM] Religion Chat
[MFM] Whisper to: [TARGET] From: [GIVER]
[MFM] Night/Day Action
[MFM] NIGHT EVENT!
[MFM] Your Rolecard
Italics: Only the host will submit these PM's.
etc.
- In the pre-game, there will always be a poll if the host suggests multiple rolelists. Votes for repick will be on the topic.
- You can request in the topic to see a certain role's rolecard. The host will post (no rhyming intended) on the topic said rolecard as soon as it is done. Signups: Protectorate_of_Pandas is the host. He will not act as a player, but the overseer of the game.

Signups:
Protectorate_of_Pandas is the host. He will not act as a player, but the overseer of the game.

I will be bumping this.
This is a very fun forum game idea, give it a try! I have nothing else to say ATM really.
I'm bumping this as well. It looks cool. Unfortunately, I don't have a ton of time to ATM, but I'll be sure to keep my eye on this thread.
/joinOh baby boy can't wait to play, I am fairly experienced.Oops didn't pay attention to the dates.
Um, this seems like Town of Salem. Why not play it here?
