I think adventure time is more awesome just due to it's backstory but really both of them are great. Ren and Stimpy is still my favorite cartoon of all time though.
Adventure Time is just ****ing genius, the diversity of the characters is just so amazing, you have all these stereotypical fantasy happy characters and then a sadistic goth punk vampire and a psychopathic ice wizard who is actually really complex in that you feel bad for him since he's so socially retarded. you've got it all, witty humor, trippy adventures, adult references, mathematic curse words, smart writing, and amazing characters. if you think its just a kids show you haven't watched an episode, regular show is cool but on a lower level
Heres what I can think of off the top of my head
In adventure time:
-a woman tries to seduce a tentacle monster
-an elephant dies, and then returns as a vengeful pedophile
-Finn is forced by gnomes, to get in a small glass case and poledance.
-A demon turns into a gigantic penis-monster
- A vampire is called a ****.
Woah, they got past the radar a few times there, I prefer adventure time, because the Regular show is just lame for me...
No offense to the fans.
What happened to Tom and Jerry, Scooby Doo, Edd, Ed, n Eddy, Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy, Code Lyoko, Dexter's Laboratory, The Looney Tunes Show?
At least Spongebob and Fairly Odd Parents are still running and Nickelodian didn't completely die off...
on closing their doors to good comedy was the stupid
Now they have total garbage aired that teach children these days horrible things and make them idiotic
And here you're talking about adventure time and regular show, you people disgust me. Ugh...
Dude they still air Tom&Jerry, but I have to admit tales was kinda lame, Scooby is getting downhill because of Mystery Inc.(no offense), Grim adventures of Billy and Mandy are also being aired but on late nights (well sometimes), also the new Loony tunes isn't funny as the old one is...
Yeah, spongebob and the fairly odd parents still gets the cake for some of their new episodes.
If you wanted to show your disgust about this thread you never should have posted.
Peace man, these are all the opinions of other people not you.
I barely watch either, but I'd have to go with Regular Show without a doubt. Because it's made to be a kid friendly cartoon but it's definitely more violent and raunchy than any other kids cartoon, which is why I love it.
I actually think they're all horrible: adventure time, regular show, chowder, flapjack, etc.
What happened to the old cartoon network and nickelodeon?
They used to show much better things back then and now they show horrible or inappropriate things
Chowder has horrible animation, drawings, humor, bathroom jokes
Flapjack also has horrible animation and sloppy drawings and that kid looks so stupid and ugly
Adventure time is stupid. And I've never watched regular show, but I bet it's stupid
What happened to Tom and Jerry, Scooby Doo, Edd, Ed, n Eddy, Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy, Code Lyoko, Dexter's Laboratory, The Looney Tunes Show?

Courage the Cowardly Dog appears once in an often
The desicion they made 3 years ago on closing their doors to good comedy was the stupid
Now they have total garbage aired that teach children these days horrible things and make them idiotic
And here you're talking about adventure time and regular show, you people disgust me. Ugh...
Oh hush hush you hipster.
We all know most of the new shows suck, I hate them myself. But most of the 90s shows sucked as well. Hey arnold was a load of ****, Dexter was garbage, Angry Beavers sucked. The only good "90s" shows were the ones that came out in 1999 and stuff, really late 90s. Like edd edd n eddy and courage the cowardly dog. But all these hipsters going around saying 90s shows were the best, they most certainly sucked a bag of dicks.
And Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends? That's like.. what.. 4 years old? That's not very old.
Adventure Time is way better, but I'm probably only saying that because I watched every season of Adventure Time and only 2 episode of regular show. They are both weird shows, but adventure time has a more unique world since it feels like your in a different universe while regular show feels more similar to modern day Earth.
The characters are diverse, yes, and their personalities differ, but here's the thing.
The characters are never developed.
Not once do I see Finn learn a lesson that makes him think in the next one. Complete lack of continuity and ability for a character to flesh itself out. Finn more or less does the exact same thing time after time, maybe once straying from the usual.
The characters are set in stone-there is no room for development. And that is why I hate it. Ice King, yes, he's a social outcast. Yes, you even learn his backstory. But in the present, there is absolutely no room for him to permanently wisen up. He might stop, and think. But he won't change a bit.
I promised myself I wouldn't do this, I promised I wouldn't bring it up, but...
I think MLP:FiM Is better.
HANG ON HOLD YOUR FLAME GUNS. I CAN EXPLAIN, with examples.
Have you even freakin' seen this? MLP makes references to beer(cider), drugging (spiked punch), nudity(one character even acts embarrassed as such at a point, even though they don't normally wear clothes), violence, hell, even to Chocolate Rain.
MLP in a nutshell. These characters are so ****ing deep, and the plotline assigns each character another trait. I'll give you one.
Rainbow Dash is your speedster athlete, also given the trait of loyalty. She doesn't hesitate to rush into danger, and that's a flaw-she ends up getting flicked by a dragon at one point, bowling into her friends. When tempted with fame, she remained with her friends. She was shown to utterly despise reading because it was 'uncool', but she tried it, and liked it. She tried to hide it, ended up breaking into a hospital to get her book back. Rainbow now reads in future episodes, an example of character development and continuity.
That's the god damn short version.
Ever go on an adventure to stop a reality bending Draconeques who is similar to the role of Star Trek's Q, but more chaotic, and also voiced by him? IT'S SOOOO TRIPPY.
"Horseapples", "buck", and "hay" are clever horse-substitutes for cusswords.
...
You call "Extremely juvenile retorts" witty? Mmk. Now MLP, have you even seen this crud? It's hilarious.
Even straight up MGS references.
Plus the music in this show is SO catchy. I've had Winter Wrap Up in my head for 8 months. It's music that actually doesn't make you want to run away from your TV.
I have so many more arguments, but my post is now too big. The OP said to talk about other shows, so I did. Reply if you wish, and I can say even more.
...if I have to choose between the other two, though, I choose Adventure Time. Regular Show is even worse, in my opinion. Don't even get me started.
I'm not trashing on anyone for watching Adventure Time-I'm just pointing out the flaws that I see. It's an opinion, don't get worked up over it.

And who's to say that's a bad thing?
If characters constantly develop eventually when writing a TV series you could be written into a corner as eventually as the series goes on character flaws get eliminated and they start acting less interesting.
I think MLP:FiM Is better.
HANG ON HOLD YOUR FLAME GUNS. I CAN EXPLAIN, with examples.
Okay. I'll keep them on hold for a minute than start firing.
Have you even freakin' seen this? MLP makes references to beer(cider), drugging (spiked punch), nudity(one character even acts embarrassed as such at a point, even though they don't normally wear clothes), violence, hell, even to Chocolate Rain.
Don't forget the implied racism against cows and donkeys.
See? It is easy to say stuff like this. You can make a **** joke of everything, doesn't mean it was intended.

So basically your fiercely loyal jock that got a quark for liking to read books? I don't see anything special here, no offense.
I mean I can say similar about hunters from halo.
The hunters are your big gunned aliens who are also loyal to elites and never hesitate to rush into danger (they charge you a lot), and that is a flaw because than the master chief shoots them in the back harming them. They often come in pairs and see themselves as brothers and when one is killed the other is at a loss and goes into a berserk rampage at loss of their bond brother. Also the hunters at first despised humans, but eventually allied with them with the elites when they found out the covenant was lying to them about their religion and also they sometimes sing war poetry.
Ever go on an adventure to stop a reality bending Draconeques who is similar to the role of Star Trek's Q, but more chaotic, and also voiced by him? IT'S SOOOO TRIPPY.
I've seen weirder in a circus dude, nothing really that special. Ballons with faces on them, yeah I am not my ballonphobic uncle and faces are constantly drawn on ballons anyways.
"Horseapples", "buck", and "hay" are clever horse-substitutes for cusswords.
Puns, cheesy puns. So much cheese. I found those puns when I heard them incredibly annoying more than anything else.
You call "Extremely juvenile retorts" witty? Mmk. Now MLP, have you even seen this crud? It's hilarious.
Yeah yeah random gags.
Even straight up MGS references.
I never found pop-culture references clever or interesting and even in things I like roll my eyes when made.
Plus the music in this show is SO catchy. I've had Winter Wrap Up in my head for 8 months. It's music that actually doesn't make you want to run away from your TV.
Uh, this type of music hurts my brain. Chiptune-type stuff for me is less catchy and more ear injuring for me. I prefer stuff like that of vangelis or gorrilaz personally. Techno is good too I guess.
I have so many more arguments, but my post is now too big. The OP said to talk about other shows, so I did. Reply if you wish, and I can say even more.
Bring it on pony boy.
However my beef is with the fandom more than anything else, I personally can care less about the show. You can discuss this over PM if you like.
my grammar isn't terrible I'm just not giving much mind to it, I haven't seen a lot of mlp just the first episode so I'm not gonna try and argue with you though my friend's psychology class was forced to analyse the first season it was an unpleasant experience for him. I will say adventure time's smart humor lies in its character interactions not its remarks, for example they are constantly exposing Ice King's social failure and old characters' loss of touch with reality. As for characters yeah they are developed, Marceline first comes as a supposed evil character but is later revealed to be a more mischievous character and as preceding episodes stack her offbeat moral code is more and more fleshed out, an example is when she is offended by PB's offense to her lyrics. If you consider learning you like to read good character development you need to find a better fandom. To be honest I have no problem with the mlp thing I think its rebellious and different in a way so I would rather not get into a fight of cartoons I could care less Adventure Time is awesome though.
clearly you don't know how to reply to my minimal criticism of your argument, saying the show is a hallucination is just projection and has nothing to do with the quality of the show, an example of shallow character development would. And I definitely don't think the Adventure Time is perfect, or needs to be, its just an awesome show that I can't stop watching. I'm sure there are things in MLP that make you love it however I haven't watched enough to make a judgement, I can sort of see the appeal in it though. Stop being stubborn, I even gave you an example of the quality characterization in AT and you ignore it no counter argument, "oh my god dude like you totally put me in my place with that one"
I was turning the statement around to you since you didn't address most of my post. Finn and Jake are developed, just they are developed to be simple characters, Finn even admits this once or twice, they aren't very complex they are just simple guys dealing with issues in a humorously blunt way. Part of the humor in the show is all about twisting the idea of morality, Finn is always trying to be moral, and problems arise when something threatens his overly simplistic world view (killing bad guys). The characters aren't meant to change much, they are too naive to have a lasting realization, this is character development in itself. Aside from Marceline, Princess Bubblegum, Ice King, and a few other characters have been well developed into fairly complex characters, though most characters are fleeting and are just simple jokes yeah. Now you are just wasting my time being stubborn, in reality Adventure Time is probably superior in terms of character development, My Little Pony has a strict demographic while AT is focused on a wider range, thus its more complex, more suggestive, and more analytic. Though you're 14 so you do fall into MLP's demographic sort of so this makes sense.
Dang this is a tough choice.
Both are great shows in my opinion, but when thinking about which I enjoyed, laughed at and related to more...
It has to be Regular Show.
Let me explain why I prefer Regular Show, and what problems I have with Adventure Time.
Regular Show I find to be less random than Adventure Time, yes Regular Show has it's random moments, but Adventure Time is built upon the odd creatures, landscapes and occurances that happen in that world. Regular Show starts off mundane and by the climax of the episode it's reality-ripping crazy, but the random characters/occurances is all related in some way, while most of the time Adventure Time is just plain random in a good way in my opinion. I'm not saying Adventure Time is too random, I'm just saying that Regular Show is not the most random out of the two for me.
The way the plot in Regular Show moves kinda reminds me of the early Simpsons where the beginning shows one plot but then because of one small detail it changes the plot into something completely different (in a clever way), that's kinda why I like the writing in Regular Show because the outcomes/endings are pretty clever in an unpredictable way in some episodes. Some might dissagree with me, but that's just how I feel.
Plus, some of Adventure Time's episodes (please don't hurt me for this) are just too light hearted and just feel out of place for me. Yes I like some of those moments and some of those moments are my favorite in the show, but many are just, uuuuughh. What I mean by uuuughh is that the moment to me seems: forced, cliched, and seems like that generic kid show. Most of those episodes start out great but then it hits you with one of those moments and the whole episode just feels bland (The movie making episode is a good example). I do realize that Adventure Time, while it has it's "How did the censors miss that?" moments, is also aimed at younger audiances as well as older ones, so those light hearted moments will happen. Adventure Time has it's moments where it doesn't feel like my kind of cartoon if you know what I mean.
So yeah, I still really enjoy both a lot, but I prefer Regular Show.
Regular Show. I'd rather watch pubescent boys shouting "OOOHHH" whenever something slightly interesting happens than a pre pubescent boy shouting "HRREWEAGADGAHDAGGHHHH!" Every time he does something that requires more strength than walking.
My DeviantArt, so sexy
With the Mushroom War, and Abraham 'Jesus' Lincoln.

To be fair, both are great.
That's because they have to balance out the cleverness and surrealisitic qualities with a bunch of "OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHH"'s, because Cartoon Network.
