Hahaha. This whole thread is literally just "bawww everything was better when I was little but now everything sucks!!!"
Remove your nostalgia goggles, please. Cartoon Network is as redeeming as it's ever been and chances are you've just grown out of watching cartoons, yet still have a soft spot for some because you liked them as a 4-year-old.
I'm 15 and miss the cartoonnetwork before 2008, and no, cartoonnetwork is crap, I'm not being nostalgic, I can't be nostalgic I've started watching cartoonnetwork when i was 5, but it have became nothing but crap( I suppose i can give adventure time some slack, but still is crap).
Ah, I see no one's watched the news today. This story might interest you guys:
On a much more sober note: I genuinely like Regular Show and I think Adventure Time is one of the best cartoons to come out in a while.
I find both Johnnie Test and Amazing World of Gumball, on the other hand, to be sub-par (although perhaps that's just because they're marketed to people a little younger than me, whilst Regular Show and Adventure Time seem to be aimed at people right in my demographic.)
I've started watching cartoonnetwork when i was 5, but it have became nothing but crap
That's basically the definition of nostalgia goggles.
If you watch any of the old cartoons that you used to, you'll see that they were just as "terrible" as the ones they currently air. Or you might not, what with those big, shiny goggles obscuring your field of view.
Believe me, I loved Johnny Bravo, Cow and Chicken, Dexter's Lab and Powerpuff Girls just as much as the next kid when I was little. I have a soft spot for them, but from a critical standpoint, they really aren't that great. You had it no better when you were little.
Courage The Cowardly Dog was the best show ever, no matter how twisted and screwed up it was.
I loved that show. x3
There were a few video games of it. They were pretty good, too. :3
There aren't really any good shows left on CN now.. :V
The only really good ones are Adventure Time, Regular Show and Gumball.
I remember when they used to have PowerPuff Girls, Camp Lazlo, Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends.... etc.
I usually just watch Nickelodeon and Disney but at like 12am - 3am, some old shows of CN will be on so I'll watch them if I'm awake. :3
Oh you old bastards. "Back in MY day we had REAL shows, our shows had CHARACTER and were APPROPRIATE, HEY YOU KIDS GET OFF MAH LAWN!!!!!" I used to think like that, but then I spent like a week watching nothing but Cartoon Network. The shows with real people are a blatant violation of what CN stood for in MY DAY so I automatically hate them. Most of the rest are meh, not great, but not terrible. I liked Adventure Time the most out of all the old shows. Also TOONAMI, Toonamis been showing anime since wheels were made from rocks. And it's back and I spent about 5 hours just in a constant pleasure smile. Adult Swim is basically a wannabe Comedy Central, showing meh shows with sub-par jokes.
Yes I have to agree, the old CN was WAY better. But maybe it's not CN that's messing up, maybe it's the writers and animators of the actual show. I mean, Spongebob on Nickelodeon has been going down-hill lately(in my opinion), so maybe, maybe it's not all CN's fault.
If you don't like 'em. Just plain don't watch them. I realized after 2008 that my taste for cartoons had shifted. I used to love all of the slapstick, and stupidity that happened, and the only reason I can even watch older cartoons, is because I watched them growing up. I look back at my younger self and say, "this is what you decided to do on Saturday mornings? Not go outside, play soccer with your friends and have ice cream? Who are you?" Then again, some years from now, I will grow out of anime and say, "you spent your teenage years watching Inuyasha, Sword Art Online, and Evangelion. When you could have been drawing, writing, or doing something revolutionary. Meh, it was time well spent."
Anyways, yes. Cartoons didn't get worse. We just grew up. Sure the demographics have changed a bit, now trying to cater to a more adult audience, but the same content is found in almost every cartoon.

It's getting weird.. Very weird. Except Adventure time, that kind of weird is okay.
Regular Show is normal. You have Rigby in a coma from eating the Eggsellent Challenge, Ace revive from the dead, an arm wrestle with Death, and an annoying Quips. Zingo!

I'm 17 and I enjoy Regular Show and Adventure time. I watch a little of MAD and can't say for sure if I like it or not nut it's ok. I can't stand anime. Past shows I enjoy are Chowder, Flapjack, Courage the Cowardly Dog, Adventure of Billy and Mandy (My favorite character was Fred Fredburger,) Fosters Home for Imaginary Friends (favorite character was Cheese,) Tom and Jerry, I was stuck on Star Wars: The Clone Wars for a bit but couldn't keep up, I watched a bit of Xiolin Showdown and Code: Lyoko, Codename Kids Next Door wasn't too bad but I can likely agree it's stupid. That's all I can think of right now that I enjoyed. My parents didn't let me watch Ed, Edd, & Eddy because they thought it was stupid.
Cartoon network before that screw up: The only crappy show was jhonny test and the only slightly innapropprate show was billy and mandy and the grim reper. All the othr shows where great like ed edd and eddy.
Cartoon network AFTER the screw up: Regular show is waaaaaaaaayyy to violent,They now give anime shows, adventure time is relly disturbing and amasing world of gumball sometimes show naked caracters and very pointless.
Do you think cartoon network is too inappropriot?
(Sorry for bad spelling)
Regular Show can be iffy, but that pint about the naked people on Gumball? Spongebob already went there and it's WAY bigger than Gumball will ever be.
As to violence, in Adventure Time, the fact that the characters are actually hurt by things that normally wouldn't hurt a cartoon character sort of humanizes them.
So no, but I see where you're getting at
EDIT: MAD can definitely be iffy, but I'm such a huge fan I tend to block it out.
I guess you don't remember Toonami, and Courage the Cowardly Dog. I haven't watched television in years, but anime always existed on Cartoon Network, and I see no problem with that. It's a good thing when more varied content reaches an audience.
Honestly, all children's shows today are brain melting, substanceless, fast paced, nauseating, shallow throwaway content. I sincerely believe it is not healthy. Built on top of a generation of absent parents.
I watched a clip on youtube though, of this new "Adventure Time" (or something), and I actually thought it was interesting. So clearly post apocalyptic, and spirituality / drug inspired. Beautiful, actually had some substance to it. Least in my mind. Bit of faith in humanity restored.
