Has anyone noticed that ever since the movie release (The Hunger Games) it was never really talked about and no one at all knew about it? I know there were books before but where did it come from? It just seemed to pop up out of nowhere after the movie came out. Everyone was happy about The Hunger Games but I had no idea what this movie was about and never even heard about it. It seemed like I said, kind of "unseen" until the movie came out. I just find it odd that I never heard of it before. And it's kind of funny how it was so talked about since the movie, like it would always come up in any and every conversation.
I just get bored and start typing about random things on my mind and things that interest me so don't mind me xD
Posting at 11:00 at night? Opinion time!
Personally, i don't like the books (haven't seen the movie, but who cares)
It seems to me that the series is in a bi-polar state in terms of target audience. They are marketed to teens, but seem to appeal to the 18+ crowd. I know many adults that read the Hunger Games, yet i see every kid in middle and high school reading it.
From what i've made out from reading this myself, the series is a combination of social commentary, romance, and violence. And from each of the three books in the series, they seem to differ in what chemestry they take on.
Example:
Hunger Games- primarily violence and romance, Social Commentary is minimal
Catching fire- Social Commentary with some romance, violence on the side
Mocking Jay- overkills all three
I see that most people will find themselves reading this for one of these reasons. Boys- violence. Girls- romance. Adults- Social commentary. If you want to read about any of the three and think you'll find it satisfying in the HG, i suggest reading something else.
Hell, the actual "games" take up like, 20% of the entire series. And most people find themselves reading the HG for the game it'self.
Keep in mind these are my opinions, goodnight, Earth.
I remember seeing it in 2009 at a book fair. It's 2012 now, shows how much people pay attention
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
If Facebook, Myspace, and Twitter were all destroyed, 90% of teens would go insane. If you're one of the 10% that would be laughing at them, copy this into your signature and hope it happens. if i helped press the + :D!
I heard about the books a while ago.
Is the film any good? It seems like it's just going to be battle royal for kids.
I wanted to see it out of curiosity myself, to me, it seems kind of like a teen-on-teen version of The Running Man. Only difference is that instead of a bunch of criminals running through a derelict section of L.A., trying not to get killed by cops and professional killers, it's a bunch of kids fighting each other in a gladiatorial battle royále,

Tell me, am I right so far?
Sort of like the running man except the plot is garbage, it's full of teenage angst, you want to punch every character in the face because the diaglouge is so cringeworthy, and the fight scenes are poorly done. It's just like every other "hip new tween book." You missed nothing.

I had a feeling of that...all books for kids and teens usually have the worst movie adaptations. Stormbreaker, Percy Jackson and the Olympians, etc.. I never trust any kind of movie based off of a book (Except for The Lord of the Rings, which managed to be pretty loyal to the trilogy.), so I don't always watch 'em.
Thanks for keeping me from making a horrible mistake...
I heard about the books for ages, cause I read the Trilogy.
It's truthfully a very good book, for it is Grusome but the Romance seems to die within Mockingjay.
The book appeals to Teens mostly and some Adults, but hey everyone is reading it now especially since the movie was a HUGE success.
Catching Fire is suppose to come out in 2013, also, a show is coming out based on the Hunger Games but it focuses on the Romance. It's called The Selection and its supposed to come out on the CW.
But hey, this topic relates to most Movies based off books. I myself actually never heard of Twilight before the movie came out, and that's how slow I am xD

I said this. Two days later, my computer's motherboard melted down and I had to get a new one with Windows 8.
Irony in the first degree.
