Not really sure whether this would go in this section or the software/hardware section, so hopefully I'm not making some mod's job a little harder by needing this thread moved.
Basically, I'd like to try my hand at digitally producing and mixing music, but I'm poor and need free software that can just synthesize most instruments without me needing an $8,000 physical recording setup in my living room. Don't suppose anything like that exists?
And it goes without saying, but I'm not open to any form of piracy, and if I can avoid it, I'd rather it not be a WinRAR style free trial that keeps pestering me to go premium.

My favorite is a free software called Soundation (or something like that) its free and uses piano roll editing. You can also use over 700 sound samples to make a song. For music notation, use the free software Noteflight.Hope this helps!
