Evil Dead was intended as more of a dark comedy. I thought the first one was no more than a little amusing.
Dark comedy would certainly describe them. I'd probably recommend at least trying the second one; the first Evil Dead wasn't as good as the other two, and if you don't like Evil Dead 2 it wouldn't be worth trying to watch Army of Darkness since the second and third movies are closer to each other in terms of style and execution than they are to the first one.
Besides, Evil Dead 2 is when Ash gets that chainsaw hand.

Actually, I'm pretty sure I've seen Army of Darkness. i didn't mind it, actually. And I may have been a little hard on my first post about the original Evil Dead. I just find it difficult to find a really good horror movie. It's a shame that they must be hard to make well. It makes me unfairly critical of the better ones.

Ever watch The Shining? That's my personal favorite.

i think we should all use common sense and logic when we answer and ask a question but always stay open minded
just cause science fails to explain something does not mean its real (afterlife, big foot, ghosts etc..) does not mean its fake try to stay opened mined instead of closed
I didn't mind Alien, but i think they classified it as Sci-Fi. I think, when in regards to "Alien related" movies, the original Predator wins my vote.
i do agree with you but i would call alien 1 a sci-fi horror movie while the rest just plain out sci-fi but yes predator one is a great movie, too bad predator 2 was okay at best.

Doesn't matter what the press says. Doesn't matter what the politicians or the mobs say. Doesn't matter if the whole country decides that something wrong is something right. This nation was founded on one principle above all else: the requirement that we stand up for what we believe, no matter the odds or the consequences. When the mob and the press and the whole world tell you to move, your job is to plant yourself like a tree beside the river of truth, and tell the whole world — "No, you move
i dont love to watch a movie like fast n furious...
Movies like that try waytoo hard to be edgy.
And when movies play music back to back, especially during scenes where music is not needed at all.

bring back a movie series by redoing it and reversing the plots of one of the original movies and making one character act extremely differently, change the timeline and then change how an alien species looks.
Agreed, I was actually going to mention something like that.
You've got to give Fast n Furious some credit, it's a really great movie with a lot of effort put into it, especially for a successful on-going series. Then again, that's just my opinion.

I know I'm not watching a good movie when i am constantly reminded of that fact by overacting, bad acting, foreseeable plot twists etc. A good movie sweeps you away, having you forget that you are watching a movie, even if for only a while.
those of you wondering why i don't have an active RP (so far none). i try. but whenever i get to the rules section of it my computer restarts. computer: i realise what your telling me and i give up.
Every video game movie ever made.
Though that's different from a rebooted movie. But then again, a majority of Video game movies don't follow with the original video game.
But if I were to say one rebooted movie, I'd say the 2015 Fantastic Four.

I'm not sure if this is the official term for it, but Deus Ex machina. It's when someone gets out of a seemingly impossible situation by someone or something doing something or whatever at the exact right time. Like in Star Wars II, where Obi Wan saves Anakin falling in the speeder.

And i really don't like it when they do that in movies either. Edit: Annie Wilkes reference to Deus Ex machina:
She ( Annie Wilkes) is talking about Deus Ex machina. Obviously. Edit: They are discussing cliffhangers in that clip, but the fact that the guy didn't get out of the car to save himself the week before also makes it a Deus Ex machina.

I thought you were bringing up something you didn't dislike in movies with that movie clip. I haven't seen Misery, so I wouldn't have realized they were discussing about Deus Ex Machina.

I have and I liked it, it is part of my personal library. My favorite horror of all time however was the original Exorcist.

I like the new Star Trek movies. But then again, i just like star trek. Mostly Next Gen, Voyager, and the original series.
