Some of my favorite artists are: Krewella, Kascade, K-391, Different Heaven, Lensko, Awolnation, Pegboard Nerds, Vicetone, Tobu, Journey, and Skrillex.
Nothing will beat anything on Black Holes and Revelations for me though.
I honestly prefer Origin of Symmetry, that being said I tend to dislike whenever Muse's sound gets gody or campy. Overall when it comes to British alternative I have to say Radiohead is the better band. It doesn't help that Muse's recent outputs are complete trainwrecks.

Yes, Origin of Symmetry has some great tracks on it too. I've never been a big fan of Radiohead though.
I know a lot of people aren't fans of them and I think there are very good reasons not to like Radiohead. The amount of accolades Kid A (their fourth album) got, which includes #1 album of the 2000's, makes people suspicious of the band. I do like that Radiohead is an obtuse band, I like using them as reference point for labeling bands as "alternative rock" (though I rarely use that label since the definition is wayyyy too broad.)
In all seriousness though, my favorite bands are the alternative rock bands of the '00s. Kings of Leon, The Cranberries, Kasabian, Placebo, The Killers, Gorillaz, Blur, Fall Out Boy, Daughtry, Empire of the Sun, Liquido, Muse and Snow Patrol are a handful of them. I also do appreciate '80s pop and rock a lot, bands like Nirvana, Europe, Eurythmics, Sex Pistols, The Police and artists like Bonnie Tyler and Kate Bush are all amazing examples of that music era. More recent favorites include The Neighbourhood, M83, Cage The Elephant, Capital Cities and Two Door Cinema Club.
None of the bands who have listed on the poll interest me much.
And judging from the list, your musical knowledge seems very limited to modern pop, which in all honesty, is the type of genre I most dislike. (I am not stating that you shouldn't listen to it, I'm just saying I don't like that genre because I personally consider it to be more for cash creation rather than actual talent, my opinion)
My personal list has to start with System of a down, they have no defined genre, because the vibe and feel of the song seems like metal/ thrash metal, but the structure and synthesis of the lyrics seem similar to a pop song, sometimes they even completely avoid eletrical guitars in some songs creating more malinconic and melodic song.
Further-more the concept of the band is far more intruiging then something you may find now-a-days with bands such as One direction or Katy Perry or whichever band that is usually created via talent show (X-factor)
The singer of System of a down, Serj Tankian, is the son of a survivor of the armenian genocide, a truly brutal moment of time during WW1, his songs usually circle around the government, prison system, the sub-concious control the system has over the population and how the rich send the poor to fight wars which they did not create or even have anything to do with.
Apart from them, I listen very often to bands such as Nirvana, Led Zeppelin, MegaDeth, Rolling stones, Foo fighters, ecc.
Especially Nirvana, Kurt Cobain and Serj are among my favorite singers.
And ya, I am slightly a music snob, but I still am very open to any generation or genre of music.
Holy hell, I just remembered that you were the guy who introduced me to M83, Empire of the Sun and Kings of Leon a few months ago on Officialchat. You have good tastes.
Every ethnic Armenian alive today is the child/grandchild of a survivor of the Armenian genocide. It's the literal meaning of genocide. Shavo Odadjian is probably the son of a survivor too, but he has a badass beard which makes him cooler than Serj.
I am aware of that, all of the SOAD members are Armenian, and hell is shavo's beard's badass

Wait... please tell me that "#cutforzayn" doesn't mean actually cutting yourself just for a singer in One Direction? That must be what it means. Of course. Of course, why wouldn't it mean that. It's the Internet of course there is another stupid trend. This time it's dangerous. YAY!
Seriously though don't cut for Zayn. I'm not trying to insult anyone who likes One Direction, but I can tell you that he is definitely not worth CUTTING FOR.

Some choice stuff in their. I do appreciate the Blur love there, personally I like them better than Oasis and that's really because I think Oasis had an annoying personality and ugly walls of sound. I like some Oasis songs but Blur has been more progressive and has had a way better production quality, not to mention Graham Coxon is a wayyy better guitarist than Noel Gallagher.
Also, screw the class argument that gets thrown in when those two bands get compared, they all became rich in the end.

Eh... I heard stories that a bunch of teenagers failed highschool because of Kurt Cobain's suicide. Britpop documentaries always go over their rejection of grunge and the death of Cobain is often a highlight, though it's exaggerated they will often insert clips of Kurt Cobain mourning, it's practically comical (I know it's not funny but I'm sure Kurt hated the fact that he's seen as a god).
Yes, a band member leaving or dying is sad but never let that affect your life severely unless you knew the guy personally.

Ew Oasis.
Gallagher is by far the most boring singer I've ever heard.

Ah yeah, Paramore's a great band too.
I like Liam Gallagher's snarl but I find he mostly doesn't care how he sings. Noel Gallagher, I think is the better of the two, not to mention he's the one responsible for the songs. Even though I don't like Oasis, when comparing them to Blur at the time of the Battle of Britpop, Blur wrote really good pop songs, Oasis wrote anthems. However, most of the anthems are for countries I don't like and ideologies I don't subscribe to. Wonderwall gets worse every time I listen to it, whenever the "And maybbeee..." part comes on I just have to switch songs immediately, bad songwriting and lackluster production.

Yeah, I agree to that. Though my favorite Gallagher is Rory.

Eh, I never listened to Rory Gallagher because by the time I learned about him I was already disinterested in blues rock. He was talented it's just that I was more into alternative and experimental music at that point.
I've been raised on the Beatles, it's my all-time fav.
I also like ELO as well, as you can (probably) tell from my profile picture.
I post pretty rarely nowadays. Gosh, I wish this place weren't so... empty...
Some of my favorite artists are: Krewella, Kascade, K-391, Different Heaven, Lensko, Awolnation, Pegboard Nerds, Vicetone, Tobu, Journey, and Skrillex.
I saw OneRepublic live, and they really did put on a show!
Other then that, I personally favour Disclosure, if you would consider them to be a band.
I'd have to say Pink Floyd is my favorite. Styx and Queen follow closely behind.

I would say that I have a lot of favorite bands, but as of right now, it's Future Islands.

Where's the Rolling Stones!? Definitely one of the best bands ever.
I guess if I had to pick one of them, it'd be Imagine Dragons since I somewhat enjoy "Radioactive"
But I really don't like any of these bands.
And who are you, the proud lord said, that I must bow so low?
Only a cat of a different coat, that's all the truth I know.
In a coat of gold or a coat of red, a lion still has claws,
And mine are long and sharp, my lord, as long and sharp as yours.
And so he spoke, and so he spoke, that lord of Castamere,
But now the rains weep o'er his hall, with no one there to hear.
Yes now the rains weep o'er his hall, and not a soul to hear.
