In the meantime, new PSU and graphics card. Possibly also a secondhand 990FX motherboard (not worth buying new, see if you can find a buy/sell on some tech forums) and a CPU cooler to OC the 6300.
Do you know how to overclock? Also you will need a new motherboard if you want to overclock, the CPU Cooler and thermal compound will be useless without a better motherboard.
Don't get the new motherboard, it won't change performance at all, cost you $50-$90 used at best, and you'll need a new cooler to overclock anyways, so that's more money, plus getting a stable worthwhile overclock is kinda a pain and takes time, and just isn't something everyone should be doing.
Just get the psu and graphics card. That's all that will visibly change performance and prevent your PC from going up in flames.

No I don't know how to overclock. From what TheRacker said, I shouldn't really be messing with that stuff unless I were to get fans and thermal paste.
The only way to significantly increase your minecraft performance is to move to an intel CPU/motherboard. Adding more cores won't help, and if you need overclocking explained or don't even know what to upgrade your PC with you shouldn't even consider overclocking. A better graphics card is going to improve your gaming performance in the vast majority of other games besides minecraft, and your power supply right now looks like a fire hazard so get rid of it asap.

Alright. Power Supply is definitely on the list. GPU is too. I just don't see how moving to intel i3 is an improvement, but that's just me. My budget is flexible, and I can work with $200 for a single part. I just prefer to spend as little as possible while still getting outstanding results. Thank you.
I already explained why an i3 was better in this thread. And I see lots of back and forth between keeping your CPU and getting an i3 in this thread, including from me, so I'll lay out the whole situation simply.
-Minecraft is mostly dependent on how fast the CPU is (I think)
-Your CPU is pretty good and should run minecraft decently
-The best way to increase MC performance is get a faster CPU like the i3
-Forget overclocking and ignore it when people talk about it
-But again, your current CPU should be fine
-If you play any other games, a better graphics card is the best thing you can do for more performance
So if you ONLY play minecraft, and want better performance, get an intel motherboard and i3 or pentium even. If you play other games as well, a new graphics card will be the much better choice. A great graphics card for the price is the R9 270 or 270x for $150 and $170 respectively. Both perform very well at 1080p and will max out most games from 2013 and before.
As for power supplies look at Seasonic, Super Flower, Corsair, XFX, EVGA, and Antec. Get something in the 450-550w range.

But let's be honest no one uses rebates and even if you do it takes weeks and you need all the cash on hand at first to buy the card. Plus performance wise they are very similar minus a few features like freesync and the 280 can be had cheaper immediately.

So do you mean you're only getting one part, for 200$?
I'm just going to throw my opinion in, but it's out of budget.
Are you *really* planning on only playing MC? If so, I mostly agree with getting something along the lines of a 270x/280/280x/960
Although, if you really want to play newer games in the future it may be a good idea, after broadwell and such some out so Haswell prices drop, to just go all out and get an H97 board and an i5 4460.

Why exactly are you getting the CPU cooler and Thermal compound in the first place?

Because of what that guy said.

Honestly if you don't know how to Overclock, then don't get a cooler or motherboard or the paste.
I still recommend getting a better CPU + Mobo such as an i3 since with your budget getting a better video card won't help much

If anybody can find me a good GPU for under $200, that would be great.

Oh really? I had no idea, I kinda ignored that card after it sucked for its price when it launched. Then yeah OP get that if you can
Ok just checked, no they aren't. They are all $230+, the 280 however is $180sih and definitely worth going for.

Newegg has a 285 for $190 - $30 rebate.
Without rebates a 280 runs for $170
