Basically it just printed random ones and zeros on the screen occasionally stopping to print x " % done decoding firewall"
It does not matter if it is fake or not. They are not your computers and if they see you doing anything like this, even as a joke, you can and will be expelled.
Just run a search on this kind of thing, it's extremely common.
Wow! Some peoples school computers are SO locked down! I personally run everything off my flash drive. I have a word processor installed, paint, DOSBox, 2GB of random games, 360MB of music, flash movie maker, 100MB of programming IDE's etc. etc. I can pretty well run anything I want as long as I have my flash drive with me.
Jesus christ, you guys are IT's worst nightmare, do you even have a department responsible for the computers?
That's nice that you don't think you are doing anything wrong, but you are.

back in elementary school, you had to have a teacher next to you to even login to the computer. Flash required you to enter an "admin" password that everyone knew by the end of the year, but no one bothered to change it. We did have a tech at our school, which is strange for how locked they are (apple all-in-ones? seriously? the HS has ancient XP machines and the elementary school gets new overpriced crap, and the HS doesn't get the old machines)

windoge 8 has the saddest excuse for a BSOD, it just tells you the type of error, no stop code, no nothing, just "something went wrong, all your unsaved work has now been lost to the void that is volatile memory"
I just bring my own laptop, some teachers get ed at me for not being able to see what I'm doing from their desks, but it functions far better than the XP machines that are running win7 (and I can actually install stuff) I plan on taking a usb HDD with me for saving docs and massive games (DF anyone?)
I bring my laptop now, yeah. But when I don't bring it to school, or if I'm going somewhere and have to pack light I have my primary atdata 64GB 3.0 that I travel with as well as a 1TB external 3.0 that I carry. If it wasn't off topic I'd love to talk dirty about all the portable goodies you can fit on a 64GB stick
On topic, though- there are so many labs and vocational/ tech classes here that the system loopholes are far and few. We have a whole staff department that handles the schools tech and servers... It's good that we have the stuff, but the staff in charge are complete nazis over it.
I feel school corruption is fallowing suit to national corruption.

My point is effectively that if you are going to criticize a school system, you should perhaps strive to present yourself in a way that doesn't make it apparent that you require their further services.
I wonder what the teacher's reaction would be if i ran ubuntu off a flash drive, no one ever said anything when i went into the control panel.... But ubuntu takes hours to download for some reason
They would expel you for tampering with property that is not yours.
You all need to stop running under the assumption that your teachers know what you are doing and are fine with it.
the most i would get is a detention. They would probably just tell me to get off the computer.
No, they will call the police because they do not know what you are doing, you could be hacking for all they know, and you could be doing something illegal. They don't know this.
Tampering with property? You mean changing 1 harmless setting that i probably don't even need to change?
That is still tampering with property that is not your own.
Though I already knew this it is becoming more clear to me that the majority of people still in school are pretty dumb.
But no one cared about that brick wall, all I did was spray harmless graffiti on it, I mean, I know it was the side of city hall, but it's not like they would even notice.

yeah, now is HS we have crappy XP dinosaurs that can barely handle MS Word, but the younger kids get brand-new overpriced macs. at least most of us know how to bypass the firewall now, through the https method (It's a sonicwall, and an old one)

I made some harmless batch programs and sent it to most of the school computers, which just keep on coming up with the message "being hacked" "being hacked" and apparently that was harmful and a virus O_o
I accessed some computers with my phone remotely, but i renamed it to "virus"
So when i would access it, a popup would appear saying " Now being accessed by virus" or something like that. And i could control everything. Pretty funny stuff that was.
Also, my htc one has an ir emitter, so i can control all of the projectors at my school.
Of course, i don't do this on a regular basis, just tried it to see if it worked. Uninstalled just in case they decide to search my phone.
........... I cannot believe what I am reading in this thread.
Are you kids serious? Do you have any idea how completely stupid what you are doing is?
I would assume they don't have any idea.
Personally I always get permission if I want to do something with something other than the school provided software and I follow the school's computer usage contract to the letter; this way I can't get into legal trouble plus the teachers actually trust me.
fm87 you need to realise that the great majority of children, me included, will naturally assume things will not happen to them if they have gotten away with it before. Although I would like to say that I don't suffer from that flaw it would be a lie for me to say so. Many of the people on this thread assume that they won't be caught in a legal issue or expelled simply because they have seen others doing it without trouble and they have managed without trouble.
For anyone else reading: if a teacher tells you to do something or stop doing something you obey them unless there is a moral issue with it, in which case you should report to the school's principal or police depending on the nature of the issue.
Some random kid got sent to CDC (the disciplinary center for my area) for using the built-in RDP program for the iMacs in the library. They said he was hacking.
What they're saying isn't a joke. Not everyone spends their whole life in front of a monitor.

I don't think that teachers should make accusations of hacking or breaking the law just when they see a student doing something abnormal. The best response would be to ask if they don't understand or simply tell them to stop, you should not be hired for a tech job if you don't know at least a little of what you're doing and what your students are doing. That's why I don't respect some of the lab teachers that I've had and have classes with. They had one job.

Thanks, I totally don't feel insulted or belittled being called 'kid' and being accused of being 'so completely stupid.'
If you don't like a conversation and people aren't listening to you then leave, or try to contribute in a different way. Don't you have any stories of 'that one professor dude with the computers' way back in school?

Right. I see a kid beating up another kid I'm going to ask to make sure that maybe they're just having a friendly scuffle.
No one is talking about the techs here. We're talking about teachers put in charge of monitoring the area where the computers are, which is usually the library.
And EITHER WAY, you should read that paper they have you sign before you're allowed to use any of the computers at a school. Turns out they DO NOT ALLOW what you are doing. No, I don't have any stories, I do have TONS of stories as recent as a month ago for being called in to make sure a student wasn't doing anything they weren't supposed to, otherwise they would have gotten expelled.
I'm not kidding when I say you kids doing this is making the IT person's job an absolute nightmare, and it is causing more problems than you seem to think. But no, all I am seeing here is "I know better, because I said so". Brilliant.
