Today I tried to use my 2-3 year old dell vostro and when I turn it on it gets stuck on the loading screen. It does not bring me to the place where I can login, and I just have to turn it off. I assume it is something wrong with the hard drive, but I need to know what I can do to fix it.
Tap F2 during startup to enter the BIOS. Check if the system detects the hard drive. If that does not uncover your issue, restart and tap F12 for Dell Diagnostics.
If you cannot do either, the problem is probably not with the hard drive.

..it would not get to the load screen if it wasnt detecting a hard drive. it would say something along the lines of please insert bootable disk.
what are you using to post on now? if its a desktop try tossing the old HDD into your computer and virus scan it.
