Personally I found even Pong to be a huge undertaking. Then again I didn't make one where everything was hardcoded and 60 lines on one file.
I think people vastly underestimate the difference between making a polished game and a hardcoded simple game. The first one takes you an hour and if you want to change anything later it takes three hours to change one thing. The second takes a week or two to make and takes a few moments to change anything. It also provides reusable code for other projects.
IMO forcing yourself to make a "finished" game makes you feel very good afterwards, especially if you keep doing it and don't turn into a Notch.
I like when you can say, "you know what would be cool, this arbitrary, complicated new feature involving new blocks, enemies, particle effects, and game objects" and actually be able to implement that entirely by dropping a plain-text script in a specific folder.
I still have a lot of questions that are preventing me from moving any further until they are answered.
I have no idea how to properly install PyGame. Importing it in IDLE does absolutely nothing. (EDIT) It does something, but that something is an error telling me PyGame isn't found or something.
And Python file I open that isn't the command line instantly closes.
I am using Python 3.3 and PyGame for 3.3.
I am using Windows 7.
Okay, so, I know what's wrong, but I can't seem to fix it.
When I install the latest pygame from https://bitbucket.org/pygame/pygame/downloads and do import pygame, it works fine. However, when I do pygame. and press tab, I am missing a ton of features that other people seem to have. Also, they seem to have underscores which other people don't have when I look for some help.

I think I installed everything correctly, and I am using the correct download. is there more to installing it than running the installer?
