I really need help on this one would i be able to add cpu to my laptop i have about 50-100$ i can throw into it, I would like to get my laptop up to normal settings and things and have it running at a steady 30-40 fps (it runs that way with everything on terrible settings). My laptop is an asus laptop from 2012 model: X401A thank's for reading.
EDIT: intel pentium graphics card and it is windows 7
A new CPU won't help with Minecraft performance most likely, and most likely it would be a pain in the butt to install a new CPU in your laptop if it's even possible.
If you're trying to fit a discrete graphics card into your laptop, I wish you luck. You'll have to cut a hole in the side of it just to fit it, and even then, your power supply probably wouldn't hold up.

Having checked out this video it's possible to replace the CPU as it uses a socket, but I don't know if it's using a standard socket (I know it's not the same as on desktops, but if laptops have a similar socket system).
But even if you are able to upgrade it probably won't matter that much.
EDIT: about upgrading/changing out the graphics card. no..
Proud member of the MCF AWA war of '13! if someone suggests Alienware or Cyberpower, wait for a custom-built list from someone who knows their stuff. Meh Rig
ah well if I sold this one how much would i approximately get? (but selling it is risky for me in case i don't have enough money to buy a new one then i'm screwed)

depends if you market it well.
people can sell hardware that is worth $200 for $500 if they talk it up.

Well most laptops come with the cpu and gpu soldered to the motherboard. But only a few of laptops have an MXM slot for the GPU, and don't have the cpu soldered to the motherboard. Like everyone is suggestting above, sell the laptop. Also the haswell IGPU is fine enough for minecraft as minecraft mostly relies off of cpu power.

I thought they were using Iris for their new GPU branding.
You can't really make any upgrades to your laptop, you'll just have to get a new one.
That's Haswell, and only on the higher end laptop CPU's. Intel HD 4600 reigns supreme for the most part.

Didn't get the joke.

If you sell THE laptop. Parting it out isn't very useful.
