Hi everyone. So, in the next few months I will be getting a job (part time). I will make probably a minimum of $400 a month; which excites me (First job [I'm 16]). Anyway, I was thinking of saving up for a couple months and getting an Alienware, or building my own computer. What would you recommend? What model of an Alienware? I wanna be able to run Minecraft; but also like Red Dead Redemption, GTA, and maybe Skyrim...you know.
No Alienware! VERY overpriced, and I heard they overheat a lot. Building gives you a fun experience, more power, and its cheaper. You should come back when you actually have the money since prices change a lot.

Yeah, I will...I just want to figure out kinda what I intend to get so I can look it all up etc.
How much are you willing to spend? (This would be better in off-topic hardware discussion and support, you could request a moderator to move it for you) for a lower price go with an AMD CPU. As the 6-core CPUs they have are barely any more expensive than the quad cores they would probably be a good idea. as for RAM, 4 GB should be enough, but if you're a tad paranoid like me ( ) then go for 8, but either way it's good to have a motherboard that can be upgraded just in case you ever find that your latest game/whatever wants more RAM. I think a 7850 graphics card (such as this) should be fine for what you want, but as I mentioned, the people in the hardware discussion and support subforum will have a better idea about the GPU and about various other parts such as the motherboard.
I am willing to spend a good amount; as I really have no other bills thanks for the info. I will also certainly look into the Fusion Yogsblast; as previously mentioned.
I think a PC with a mouse would be a better pick. I use a Windows Vista and it runs very well (beleive it or not), it controls well, and it has easier commands like F1, F2, etc.
I once played Minecraft on a Mac with no mouse and the right click feels awkward. You either have to press control while clicking or touch the VERY edge of the right part of the clicker. I always found myself destroy blocks instead of placing them while building a castle. You cannot press F1 to remove the the GUI, press F2 to take a screenshot, or any of the function keys because they already have a purpose for Mac releated shortcuts. Other than that, the Mac version processes about as good as the PC version.
Don't buy a computer FOR Minecraft. Pretty much any computer will do. What you should take in perspective is what else you will be doing on said computer. Do you do any other kinds of gaming or will it me like an all-purpose computer for web browsing and such? I got a complete package desktop computer for $500. I play Minecraft with no lag, however other games like Skyrim will lag up a bit (but that's what my xBox is for). So, just keep that in mind.
KIMBOOP sums it up the best IMHO. It would be a pity if you spent your hard earned money on a dedicated computer for Minecraft. If it fails to deliver you are stuck with a piece of junk.

This is all coming out of my experience.
Try holding the Fn keys when pushing the Fx keys since for Macs it is reversed for some reason, ;). The Mac itself does not run the game better or worse, it is the hardware. I have used a Mac before and I honestly prefer the OS X operating system to my current Windows.
Oh geez, a thread from the dark section of the forums.
OP, as technology advances very rapidly, we would be much obliged to say, physically save the money, and come back when you have the money ready to spend.
That way, we can give you the best value for your money. But most importantly, don't get an Alienware.
They're overpriced, very prone to overheating, and overall just quite terrible.

Who knows, maybe there will be some magical new thing that will blow your mind! (the eventual amd and nvidia cards).
So, some questions.
1. Are you willing to build a computer?
2. What country are you located in?
3. What is your budget?
4. Do you currently have any monitor/keyboard/mouse you could use?
for those games, you could do an FX-6300, 8GB RAM, Radeon 7870, and that combo could max all but the most graphically demanding games. Some quick mental math puts that combo at about $725 or so without peripherals.

Actually Macs do have right click on the trackpad. You click with 2 fingers. And for the F keys, you press fn + whichever F key you need. If that really bothers you, then you can just turn off the F key functions in the settings.
This is not how computers work, they are not like cars where the year and mileage is all that matters. There are computers brand new today that are less powerful than the least powerful computer made in 2009. There is also the opposite.
I doubt that it would be at all hard to beat the yogblast's price:performance by getting the individual parts yourself (and swapping a few with better value ones...)
Anyway, thanks!
Click it or it will die...A cold painful death.

x=random number since it is a variable

Alienware sucks. That's all.

Chillblast is just as much overpriced garbage as Alienware is, if not moreso.
