So my current rig is down in my signature, I also have a Cooler Master Elite 331 case.
Now I come to ask you what the upgrade path would be. First thing for sure will be the case. Also, I'm moving more and more into rendering and streaming, so I'm definitely thinking about a new CPU+mobo. Does that sound about right?
I don't have the money right now and I won't for a while, I'm just wondering what the most logical upgrades would be (aside from the case OFC, it's a POS)

I'd personally say go after a new GPU before you get a new CPU. The Phenom you have is still quite powerful.
Tbh it holds up just fine with the games I play currently: euro truck sim 2, CS: GO, Minecraft. It even holds up fine in bf3.
If I were to get a GPU upgrade I think I'd go for something high-end like a 7970 or 670, but the money poured into that would've better been put towards a new CPU and mobo as that's what I'd use most.
I think my upgrade path is going to be case and psu (basically i want a modular one and sleeved cables) then CPU and mobo then other things. For the time being, got any case suggestions around $110?

I'd upgrade to a MSi/Sapphire/HIS Radeon HD 7850 or above, after the case. Phenoms are still good enough to not bottleneck any non-insane GPUs.

I'm just thinking that it won't give me much of an upgrade over my 6870.
I'll consider it.
7850 and 6870 just isn't worth the upgrade. Since performance isn't that much better. Get a 7870 for 50$ more or just wait until the 8000 series are out.
HIS 7850 = 185$
HIS ICEQ 7870 = 229$

For rendering and stuff, a 7950 would be really good. However, Nvidia cards have less frame latency, but are not worth the money.
On a side note, the GTX 780 Titan is coming out on the 18th of Feb.
I highly, highly doubt that the Titan is the 780.
OP, you should get a 7870 XT. Any higher and the Phenom might bottleneck it.
