Hello everyone this is probably a problem that most of you have had experiences with i have just recently built a new pc and i am already noticing a lot of dust buildup inside the case but before i try to do anything to stop it i would like to know how some of you have fixed this problem.
Heat is not much of a problem for me as my system barely gets warm so i was thinking of reversing the case fan so that it blows in to the case and placing some sort of filter over the fan but i have had absolutely no
experiences with this kind of thing so i would just like to here what some of you have to say on the topic.
BTW i think i put this in the wrong place can an admin please move it to hardware discussion and support thanks.
Essentially, I just make sure to clean it every once in a while and keep the dust filters in their proper settings. I haven't had a real chance to try with all my new fans yet (hopefully end of this week or early next), but it's just a matter of keeping it clean. Can of compressed air does the trick.
I don't have dust filters in my case thats probably the problem ist most annoying when it builds up on the plexy side panel I need to clean it every 2-3 days it gets very annoying.
I've never had dust filters. Wouldn't putting something over the fans restict airflow and make the fans have to work harder to product the same cooling?
I have a clear side panel so I can see when the dust starts to build up. Every few months I spray it out with compressed air but every few years I do a complete tear-down and clean EVERYTHING (even the inside of the power supply which you can see sitting on top of my case). I originally bought a pre-built back in 2006 but nothing is left of it but the case. Most of the contents were swapped out in 2009 and this picture was taken in 2012.

Not quite, no. Especially not if done correctly.
You honestly do not need much airflow in a case to keep it cool, positive air pressure alone is more than enough, so even if resistance is added, it doesn't amount to much/anything.

Seems a bit excessive. If you have dust filters and just clean every couple months, the only thing that will ever build up is a very light layer of dust, so you don't need to do these kinds of teardowns.

Seriously, they make a world of difference.
If you don't have any for your case, pantyhose works very well and can be cleaned easily.
Other than that, a cleaning every 3-4 months. with air. Thanks to the dust filters you don't need to do a deep cleaning. Pantyhose.
