I just made a necklace out of an old, out of commission CPU. I was wondering if it would be alright to take showers with it, and really not have to worry about any sort of water contact with it at all.
Basically asking if the silicon will swell or anything in a shower, or rain or something. I tend to wear my necklaces 24/7(rarely does this occour, and not for an extremely extended time if it does) even in the shower.

That's why he must plant it into his chest and become one with it.
he will consume it and gain its power.

Proud member of the MCF AWA war of '13! if someone suggests Alienware or Cyberpower, wait for a custom-built list from someone who knows their stuff. Meh Rig
An old CPU today means practically nothing. 20 years ago, it was "great power". Pretty cool idea though. Maybe gangsters/rappers should wear golden hard drives.
The CPU itself won't corrode. As for the heat spreader, my bet would be that it does.
if its AMD the pins might...
CPUs and water is an untraveled territory because no one does it o-o

Could someone post a thread on how to DO this? I have two old Pentium D's laying around (Both from old laptops.)
drill a hole and tie a string

A lot of people wear jewelery in the shower for some reason.
Your guess is as good as mine.
I guess it's sort of a good idea, you can jumpstart oxidation and corrosion before you get to age 90 and need to throw it into the ocean over the wreck of the Titanic.

Although, if you scrub it with soap it might have a slight antibacterial effect I guess. Personally I just use metal polish.
The old one, and not the mini series nor the new one.
But given then, that sapphire necklace still lays somewhere buried, day it is ever found is the day that man/woman goes top celeb.
But to subject, I really wouldn't wear any kind of jewelry while taking a shower. The chemicals in common water, even well water, would wear down or corrode most metals in one form or another. While silver being most easy to clean, gold is meh, stainless steel isn't.
As for a processor's IHS, I am sure it would corrode. Not sure what made of really, aluminum probably, in which isn't going to corrode that bad if any noticeable. However the bottom side and PCB is another story.

Silicon does not do that IIRC.

I didn't think ti did either, but I just wanted to be absolutely positive so it doesn't get ruined. Thanks!

"Great power" and "old CPU?" Something seems off.

Sand down the corners a bit.
Drill a hole.
Put necklace armament through it.
It really is that simple.
Why would you wear this in the shower?!

End of the original Titanic movie, wasn't it?
