I'm going to build a sick gaming computer, and I'm stuck on the choice of video card. I've chosen the i5-3570K up to 3.80 GHZ as my processor (should I?). Also choosing 16 - 32 GB RAM, and maybe a Z77 motherboard but still thinking about that. So, GTX 580 or 680? Is it worth going overboard for a 680, or should I just save my money and go with the GTX 580? Both beautiful video cards, but I've heard that the 680 makes alot of sound.
not a 580 that last gen and weaker then a 670 which is around the same price
either a 670, 7950, or 7970 would be good for you
only 8 GB or ram is fine you wont need more then 8 unless rendering or extreme editing
is this actually a build like you putting it together or prebuilt?
Ehrm, i've never heard of iBuyPower. I'm just on the official NVIDIA and INTEL website, lol. I'm going to be buying all the parts seperately, and does the GTX 670 support multi-screen gameplay?
If you want to stick to nvidia and don't plan on extreme resolutions/multi monitors then the 670 is fine.
And yeah it does support more than one monitor.
He's helping me build it for me?
I'm just saying, he offered and im buying all the stuff. I'm sorry if you like AMD more then me but I've had bad experiences more with AMD/ATI then NVIDIA.

a 7970 might be better in your case though
its better then a 670 and its neck to neck with the GTX 680 or even beats it in some cases
and its cheaper then a 680

"Use of 3 or more displays with AMD Eyefinity technology requires a DisplayPort-capable panel or an AMD Eyefinity validated dongle. See http://www.amd.com/EyefinityDongles for a list of validated DisplayPort dongles" - from AMD website.
Okays, sweet. So I'm going for the AMD 7970HD for sure, but is everything else good? Alot of people say I only need 8 GB RAM, so might as well save my money. and the I5 - 3570K? and a recommended motherboard please!
EDIT EDIT = Shall I get the GHZ version or just the regular?

I'd recommend the GHz edition unless you plan on overclocking yourself. I've been using ASRock boards with japanese capacitors, but Gigabyte, ASUS, MSI are all good choices.
edit: if you plan on overclocking make sure you get an aftermarket cooler the stock HSF is crap. If you don't plan on overclocking don't get the "k" series.

I don't like either company more then the other I go with who ever offers the best bang for the buck in the given price range.
Thanks, -DisplayL.

Screen size doesn't matter, what you're looking for is numbers like 1920x1200 or something else.
I wouldn't go above 2550x1440 on the 670.

Is it ok to get your friend a worse deal for the price because of personal bias?

The 7970 also overclocks like a beast.
