My dad seems cool with it. I haven't really discussed a price, but I don't see it being more expensive then 600-700 dollars. Now, I don't know **** about building computers or the insides or what. So, I don't know where to get started. I don't know anything. I've heard some sites will put together your build for you and then ship it to you, so I guess I'll do that since I have no clue what the **** I'm doing. Anyway, can someone put together a build? I know that it's asking alot, but maybe someone is generous enough.
Anyway, I'm planning on mostly playing the following:
Fallout 3 / NV (how the hell can I not run this on low, but I can run l4d2 on medium at a tolerated FPS?)
Oblivion / Morrowind
TF2 ( I can already run this well. Just adding it to the list)
L4D2 (I can run this at 20 FPS. Would like to see higher.)
and some other games. Not looking for TOO graphic intensive games (BF3, Skyrim, MW3) but I like to rather play oblivion and stuff at a good FPS (30-40 FPS)
This just got me thinking because I bought Fallout 3 on steam and it wont run. Pissed me off, and I realised I need to get a good computer if I ever want to game on PC.
Do you need any peripherals and do you plan on doing any video editing/rendering?
I do not plan to edit video. I watch movies occasionally and watch youtube frequently, if thats what you mean by rendering. If you mean just like sony vegas or photoshop then no. And what do you mean by peripherals?

By peripherals I think he is referring to a monitor, mouse and keyboard.
Honestly I wouldn't bother getting parts in mind right now if you're waiting until Christmas. Hardware changes prices quite a bit, and what's a good deal now may possibly be a better deal then.
No not at all Skyrim is actually decently optimized on PC.
My Athlon 2 handles Skyrim just fine.
Not that it's not optimized, just that it's CPU limited (to a degree)
It appears that this game is processor-limited, even at 1920x1080, and even with our powerful Core i5-2500K running at 4 GHz. Otherwise, we wouldn't expect two GeForce GTX 460s and a single GeForce GTX 570 to perform so similarly.
In Skyrim it would. *cough cough* console port *cough*
You think so? On modded, maxed out Skyrim I get 680 99% usage and CPU around 40%, I have i7 2600k. And I say modded because non-modded can't max out GPU nor CPU.
Skyrim needs a bit optimization though. For some reason in some heavily-modded areas, GPU and CPU usage go around 40% and I get like 30fps, I wonder why.
I haven't ever been able to max out my i7 2600k in a game, only in rendering.

Wow! I get around 20 dollars every time I cut the grass and do various other chores. I could probably sell this computer and my dad will pay for the other half of the computer. Thanks so much! By the way, can that website perhaps build the computer for me? I know that's weird, but I don't know what I'm doing. At all.
It's a part picker, not a builder. However, you could get a local computer shop to build it for you.
Not sure about that one. Come to think of it, there is a computer shop around my town, not sure if they are even open anymore, but I'll look into that. Thank you so much!

EDIT: Wait.. no CPU cooler or sound card?
The mobo has a built in soundcard, and the cpu comes with a cooler.
This was at release I forget the patch number but Bethesda switched from the very inefficient x67 instructions to more efficient SSE2 and this reduce the processor load by a lot.
You would see a different picture if toms redid it.

No it wouldn't? i5 2500k wouldn't even bottleneck 680.

Unless that's pure BS.

Why the hell did you buy a 2600k?
$650 can max Skyrim.
