Check out my 1600 computer build. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2e1p
These were very carefully selected after TONS of research, and yes i made the concious choice to go with AMD phenom II x6 rather than intel.
You made a poor choice. All choices really, that build is horrible....
The Phenom IIx6 is worse than the i5.
That RAM is overpriced as all hell
The 570 is not worth the $100 price increase over the 560Ti
A 1000w PSU is extreme overkill, this build would not need more than 700w MAX. It's also a knockoff brand and does not appear 80+ certified.
Why did you add a bluray drive?
That monitor is terrible.
Why did you add a thermaltake gaming keyboard?

the phenomIIx6 is subpar to the 2500 however it is close, and is also cheaper. It also has more cores which coudl lead to an increae in performence as software starts to utilize more than 4 cores, and also i am an AMD fanboy and want to support the underdog. If intel gets a monopoly on the market it wouldnt be good for anyone. CPU prices would skyrocket and everyone would suffer.
That specific model of the 570 is almost on par with a 580. 2.5 gigs of vram and overclocked. it also comes with overclocking software to make it easy to do so.
the 1000 watt powersupply is simply to ensure ease when overclocking and when/if i want to SLI.
that ram is expensive because it is fast. (2000 mhz i think)
And the moniter is not horrible. It is amazing for the price, and you are on crack.
why would i want to burn blue rays? so i wouldnt need like 5 dvds to store the same amount of data.
i would also like to remind everyone that AMD holds the world reccord for overclocking. And they also used the crosshair V motherboard. The one in my build is the Crosshair IV(the mobo for AM3 socket, the V is for AM3+).
I am not hating, you are providing horrible "advice".

It is not close. The i5 outperforms it in almost every single situation, ESPECIALLY if overclocked.
More cores does not mean better performance, this is proof right here that you have no idea what you are talking about. AMD is not an "underdog", and Intel being a monopoly would be BAD for Intel, competition is good for business. If anything CPU prices would drop like a rock and Intel would lose billions.
That specific model of the 570 is almost on par with a 580. 2.5 gigs of vram and overclocked. it also comes with overclocking software to make it easy to do so.
VRAM is not important unless you are doing eyefinity. A 570 even at 580 speeds is still not worth the price increase and an overclocked 560Ti or even a stock 580 would be better. Clock speed =/= actual performance, and the 570 for what it is is pretty sub-par in terms of performance.
the 1000 watt powersupply is simply to ensure ease when overclocking and when/if i want to SLI.
Even if both the video card and CPU are overclocked to their maximum, it would only need an 800wPSU absolute max, even assuming SLI. Since this will likely stay at stock clocks or a minor overclock (IE: not liquid nitrogen) 1,000w is way overkill and 700-800w is a much better suit.
that ram is expensive because it is fast. (2000 mhz i think)
RAM speed does not mean much of anything, you will not notice a difference between 1600MHz RAM and 2000MHz RAM. Ever. The difference is so minute you mind as well not go for the higher clocked RAM unless you plan on overclocking the RAM, which is not only stupid but ridiculous.
And the moniter is not horrible. It is amazing for the price, and you are on crack.
The monitor is horrible. AOC makes terrible monitors from leftover surplus and knockoff parts.
why would i want to burn blue rays? so i wouldnt need like 5 dvds to store the same amount of data.
Why would you want a bluray drive in the first place? Physical media is dying. If you are storing data on DVDs you are doing it wrong, for the price of that bluray drive you could get a 500GB HDD (or a 2TB drive once prices get back to normal).
i would also like to remind everyone that AMD holds the world reccord for overclocking. And they also used the crosshair V motherboard. The one in my build is the Crosshair IV(the mobo for AM3 socket, the V is for AM3+).
So what?
World record has no footing in real-world situations. Just because AMD had a processor that can hit almost 9GHz does not mean picking an AMD processor over an Intel processor would have better performance.
As for the mobo, it is not worth it. You are not going to be overclocking with liquid nitrogen.
I've been doing this as a job for years. I know what I am talking about.

What do you think he's gonna be using Liquid Nitrogen? World record was on 2 cores and it would still get crushed by a overclocked i7. Yup thats how terrible AMD is.
Although for the sandybridge 6 core processors, it better run amazing for $900. Ill be a fan of AMD when they can pull it off with a reasonable price tag.
The APUs are an intriguing Idea, however since it has no gaming application i dont really care.
Well the Sandy Bride-E are just for Enthusiasts and it's around 1500 for a performance X79 board and 3960X but it actually spanks the current fastest Xeon processor that's around 4k. A gamer is certainly better off waiting for Ivy or spending that money on more GPU's and Monitors. You better be doing large scale rendering, folding and maybe some gaming on the side if you plan to buy it.
I plan to build a new HTPC build this coming year so I'm hoping for good things from trinity. Even the higher end Llano gives better performance then current consoles so i wouldn't say there isn't any gaming.
The most difficult task when buying a new computer is convincing your spouse that you really, really need one.LOL, jokes apart, I think you need any system for photo/video editing and gaming etc so before purchase, make sure your system meet following requirements
• Fast (but not super-fast) CPU
• Lots of RAM
• Plenty of storage
• Fast storage
• Ability to burn CDs/DVDs/Blu-ray
anyhow, you should build your own computer. hell, for that budget you could one of those super overpriced Sandy Bridge E series i7s (although they are horribly expensive: somewhere around the neighborhood of $600 - $1k, and will soon be outdated when Ivy Bridge gets released :/)
I doubt it. The Sandy Bridge-E is replacing the 1366 socket as the high end performance stuff. Ivy bridge will just replace SB. This is why I like the high performance stuff. 1366 has been out for 3 years and everything that came out at the start is compatible with stuff that came out at the end.
With the lower end sockets from Intel it went from socket 775 to 1156 to 1155 in a shorter timer period. And now SB will be replaced by IB. The IB-E processors will most likely be on the 2011 socket but will come out quite a bit later then normal IB.

i think it's better, it has more fans and space compared to the HAF, i've seen one in personal
oh well i'm also waiting for christmas
but i'd prefer this case over the phantom, too bad you have to buy the whole computer if you want it
