So I got a 500 GB Samsung SSD and want to transfer some stuff to it (obviously) such as my operating system for faster boot time. I've been searching all over and some people said to just do a clean Windows install onto my SSD, while others said to use Samsung Data Migration. I looked up the data migration and the way I understand it is that Samsung Data Migration will literally transfer over everything onto my SSD, which I don't want. Right now I just want to do the operating system. Is there a way to do ONLY operating system with the data migration program?
If not, how would I do the clean install? I bought Windows 7 3 years ago and upgraded to Windows 10 through that. I already used my serial number with it, so that wouldn't work, would it? If so, I'd have to redownload Windows 10 and install that, which I'd much rather not do

If you are rebuilding the same box, using the same serial number is fine. But yes, you need to download Windows 10. You can get it here.
