Hi am looking at getting a new gpu with more then 8gig of allocated memory as my current gpu which is a amd radeon RX 570 series which has a dedicated gpu memory of 8gig which when I play the way I like the game to run uses all of this memory causing fps issues so looking to find a gpu with enough dedicated memory that I can still play the game at the settings i like and not use up all the memory causing issues like fps droop
1.Have you tried changing the memory allocation in the launcher? Regular Minecraft works fine with 2GB of RAM on newer versions of the game, I rarely change it at all unless I'm playing with mods where I may need more for say world generation content benefits.
2.Have you considering adding more RAM or using an SSD/faster SSD rather than upgrading your GPU?
3.Have you checked for other settings to change such as VSync, particles, smooth lighting and more off or render distance low? (With or without Optifine even)?
I have a GT720 (I know, it's nothing amazing GPU, it came with the PC) and 8GB of RAM (I don't know what the GPU can handle, I haven't bothered to check though I should) and it works fine whether medium level mods or not on 1.16.4 and using no performance mods and I do get 60FPS (I never get higher or wish to achieve it either but I see the benefits in higher than 60FPS). Otherwise I just added an SSD not too long ago to allow for more benefits with my read speeds for the OS and other things on the drive.
I'd say try tweaking settings (if you want to), looking around for different parts that fit what your looking for and finding out any tests with those parts when playing Minecraft compared to other games people will benchmark.
