Hello, I am 14 and have no job so I have a low budget, I do not know about computers much because I am from consoles so not good with modifications. I wanted to try PC so I need a goodish computer in my price range. I have found the Dell Optiplex 745 and it is cheap, so is that good? Or do you know a better one for less than… $100? I found this on amazon for $33.75
Dell Optiplex Desktop Computer (1.6GHz Dual Core Processor, 2GB DDR2 Interlaced High Performance Memory, 80GB Super Fast SATA Hard Drive, DVD/CDRW, Windows XP Professional)
So is that a good computer for it? Sorry I am new to PC's.
It would be able to play with 20 fps maybe 30 or so using performance boosting mods like Optifine and BetterFPS however you can do better for under $100, though it's a good deal for under $40. Instead of looking on Amazon try Newegg (they have a nice outlet selection) or even eBay and watch the auctions, you can find some amazing deals if you put the time into stalking auctions. Here's 2 decent ones I found, the one on eBay whould need an operating system but you could easily install a Linux OS like Slackware with no added cost, Minecraft normally runs better on Linux anyway (IMO) so it's a win win.
It wouldn't be much better than the first one you asked about, the CPU has been obsolete for 10 years which is bad seeing how dependent Minecraft is on the CPU. These have decent CPU's or APU in the case of the AMD system, the first 2 have the newest tech (3 years old), with the second being the most powerful. There near to the limit of your budget but they at least have free or very cheep shipping.
This ones good if you have the money but it is at the max of your budget and some of these other systems (the first and last ones) could pretty much match it's performance.
This last one is actually a pretty good bargain as the Pentium G6950 is a decent low end gaming CPU and it has the RAM to support 64 bit programs, Minecraft runs much better with 64 bit Java.
You'd be best off buying something cheap locally like an Optiplex with decent Core2Duo/Quad, i3, or newer Pentium, then dropping a low-end dedicated GPU in there, like a GT 730.
Your computer is now obsolete that you almost cannot run Minecraft with minimal settings due to your old system specifications. How about the budget-friendly PC good for Minecraft and Shaders?

Would this be a good one?
You'll struggle running anything on that unfortunately.

Good for Minecraft? Nope.
Playable? Maybe.
