Since I am building myself a new PC, I have all of the parts except the motherboard and CPU since I didn't have the money at the time to buy them. I was watching an AMD a6-7400k and ATX board combo on the Microcenter website that was $130, but the combo just disappeared 2 days ago. Poof. Gone. No evidence that it had ever been there. Since then, I have been unable to find a combo that will meet my requirements. If someone can post a good motherboard/ cpu combo that will run minecraft well (~30FPS) on medium settings with optifine (and maybe a cheap GPU too if it's an Intel?), I would be happy. My budget for a combo is $150, and here are the ideal requirements:
-Not micro atx or mini itx, full atx. (One reason I am upgrading is because the old pc is micro atx and I filled up all the slots, stopping any future upgrades.)
-Supports DDR3 1600 (already bought an 8gb Crucial kit, was nothing cheap)
-Ideally has 8 channel audio
-Preferably AMD, but if there are good intel Celeron or Pentium processors that would run MC smoothly, then those are fine too.
-has some form of onboard video, unless there are cheap GPUs that will run well.
Oh, and this system will run either Ubuntu 15.10 or 16.04 64-bit if it is done by then.

And I don't think much has changed in the line of dirt cheap. It's not good, but I get where your coming from budget wise haha.
There is a GT 730 for cheaper ($45) but it's DDR3. And if I'm not mistaken, it's a pretty big difference from GDDR5.
I know you said ATX, but you have to decide, performance or convenience. An ATX board will put you out another 25$+ And unlike it seems, minecraft doesn't run a potato. You're going to be dissapointed with anything less than a 730 I'd think. Especially when it costs not much more.

Thanks. I found an a10-7700k combo for around $140, but would it be more worth it to get this combo?
Would the g3260 performance be about the same? I want get the combo at MicroCenter because I can get $40 off that way.
Also, about the GPU, my current system has a GT 610 1gb and it runs MC maxed out with a 128x texture pack at around 30FPS. How many FPS would the 730 get, assuming that it is better?

It would be much better than the 610. And I'm fairly sure you don't mean maxed like max render distance? My 960 has a hard time doing that lol. I'm headed off to work so I'll answer the rest when I get back.
EDIT: TO answer that question quick, in straight 1v1 performance, there will be no difference. The G3258 is overclockable, meaning you can boost performance immensely. If really all you're going to be doing is Minecraft, and are fine with the frames you get now, get the G3260 and swap your GT 610.

Ok, thanks. I will go with what you suggested. if the computer was going to run windows and i wanted to overclock, I would get the g3258. But because it is in Ubunut, there are no overclocking options so I will just get the g3260. Thanks again.

I checked the micro center website for the nearby store and they have the pentium g3260 but not the g3258.
