I have this spare computer which I want to repurpose to run a Minecraft server. I don't know whether this PC would be good enough to run the server, but I do want to check.
Specs:
Dual Core 1.6 GHz Intel Atom 230 Processor
2GB DDR2 Ram (the max it can have)
160 GB HDD
10/100 Ethernet built in (willing to buy a gigabit pci card)
I am going to run a lightweight distribution of Linux so more RAM and CPU power is directed towards the Bukkit server.
Doubt it. The CPU you have is extremely slow, and I'm not 100% sure how CPU demanding servers are, but dang that CPU is slow. It also depends on your internet speed.
Honestly you could just rent a server for $3 a month and get much better performance.

Any thoughts will be appreciated.
