And? The 280 can run them better, and has higher multi-monitor performance in case one wants to upgrade in the future.
We're not going from a single 290 to four, here.
If someone wants to game on 3 monitors, then they are probably gonna have more money to get higher hardware. So using that won't work, for OP's case.
Why are we even arguing over this? I know the 280 is faster. It's a higher card? OP doesn't need that much power though. So why spend more, when it's not needed?
Stop putting 600w power supplies in builds that won't draw more than 250w! Waste of money and efficiency. You guys really shouldn't be going above 430w unless it's a pc beginning to be high end, like overclocked i5/i7 and 780+ levels of performance. An overclocked i7 and 780ti will run off of 450w just fine, 600w+ for entry level builds is ridiculous.
Upgrade to what? No one is going to upgrade from an i3 and an R7 260 to an LGA 2011 i7 and a 780ti or anything like that. Like I said, even though it's close, 450w is enough for an overclocked i7 and 780ti, so for single graphics card builds there's not much reason to go higher than 500w or so. And good 400-500w power supplies can usually be found in the $35 and below range.

It's always nice to have a 150w leadway.
And yeah, they've put that on a 450w, but with no room to spare.
Why not go for 600? It's not gonna hurt anything, and when it's only a few dollars more?
For the OS, considering that you want to use recording software and play videogames, I would probably use Windows 7 Professional (The last word is important.)

Why Professional? I doubt he needs XP Mode, more than 16GB of memory, built in file encryption or Remote Desktop hosting, and I seriously doubt he needs to join a domain.

Everything you said was false anyways, Windows 8.1 is better for gaming. A decent sized performance increase. Plus it's a few dollars cheaper than Windows 7.
No idea why everyone hates it so much, you can easily ignore the metro part, and still use it like Windows 7.

...which is why I recommend 520w PSUs for most builds nowadays. 430w is just far too low really, you're not hitting the PSU's optimal efficiency.
Sure, and for far less reliability and also more expense. Good idea.
Only big difference is that u have a r9 280 and his build had a 270x. And ur build is $70 more. U can upgrade the 270x to a 280 and it will still be cheaper than urs and as powerful.
No, it won't be fine. The 280 has a 200w TDP and the Comrade only has a single mediocre 120mm exhaust fan that'll pretty much do jack to expel the hot air that's coming out of the bottom of the card. Then it'll start to heat the rest of the enclosure up and you'll get terrible temperatures all around. Meanwhile all the fans will be working like crazy and the thing will sound like a jet engine.
But if he needs to he can keep the side panel off.
It depends what resolution u r streaming at.
It actually does matter quite a bit. Depending on the resolution, a 6300 may be wholly inadequate.

Also, I really don't care that much about the OS. I should of asked what type of version I should get of Windows 7/8 (e.g. Professional)

why not?
Because it has wholly inadequate airflow for a 280?
It should be fine. But if he needs to he can keep the side panel off.

That's hardly even a half-decent solution.
Here is a better case then
That's probably even worse, can you pick something that isn't complete and utter crap?
