So, I am getting a new computer and my old thread didn't help *that much* so I'm going to start a new one. I'm saving for a new beast computer to run games like Skyrim to minecraft on max settings. Unfortunately, A beast computer is very expensive and I am bad with this stuff. So I'd like you people to see my pcpartpicker list and tell me what to change.
What's your monitor resolution? Unless you're running games at 1440p or triple monitors you don't need a 780Ti.
Why do you want 16GB? Give us a reason and we'll include it, but "I want it" isn't a reason to waste money.
The i7 is useless for games, and for the amount you're spending on the motherboard you're spending far too little on the CPU cooler.
If you only have one 1080p monitor this is all you need for gaming: http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/y74Zzy

ok, I'll get rid of the 780 TI, But what do you suggest to replace it?
16gb, I want them because I might want to host a private server on it and I want to allocate some of it towards Minecraft or other games.
ok, I'll downgrade to an i5- what CPU cooler might you suggest?
Right now I'm just using a crappy old monitor, when I'm done getting my computer I will get a better monitir

You don't need a cooler unless you're overclocking.
If you need an extra 8GB of RAM to host a server then you're hosting quite a large server and hosting it on a different computer or renting would be a better idea.
Sorry for replying to this thread, but I think this statement is quite untrue. I respect the fact that the stock coolers are solid otherwise they would not be included. I respect the fact that they keep cpus to a satisfactory temperature. But I think the noise some stock fans make e.g a phenom ii x4 965 stock cooler is the most ridiculous heatsink ever, the sound that comes out of that thing is stupid, at load. Whereas, cheap after market coolers like the hyper 212 are really silent.
Sorry, I didn't notice I included a phenom ii x4 965 in the build.
Intel's stock coolers are quieter.
Your original build is gobsmackingly shocking. A crappy CLC with a i7 4770k? and also, no need for a 780ti with just a regular 1080P monitor.
I will save up for a better monitor and equipment after computer is built.
CLC is a cooler, right? If so what do you suggest?I enjoy getting feedback on crap like this so everyone give your opinion!
I think it is mostly bling and some extra features such as a better audio codec and ethernet. Unless you happen to own a rig with a Haswell CPU in it, and can confirm there are VRMs on the motherboard...
No. Different boards overclock better, and can handle higherend overclocks. I am not very well informed on this subject, but perhaps someone like Karlz would inform you more.
I'm just saying, is the $200 mobo somehow going to provide much better power to the CPU than a $100 Z87/Z97 mobo is, given that almost all of the voltage regulation is not going to be done by the mobo, but by the CPU's onboard systems?
Or is there another factor that I'm missing that the $200 mobo will do well, but the $100 mobo won't?
They all have VRMs on the motherboard, what do you thinks those jolly big heatsinks to the left of the CPU socket are for on the higher end models? Aesthetics? No, they cool the VRMs/MOSFETs.

Yes.
better audio codec
Software based, independent of hardware.
ethernet
Most, if not all, motherboards from the last couple of years include gigabit ethernet as standard.

You can literally get CAS10 2133 memory for less money. Wouldn't call it perfect.
No you can't.
OP is Canadian. The cheapest 8GB 2133 kit with CAS10 is $92.
This kit is still a decent upgrade.
Been over all that already...

I thought it didn't really matter which Z87/Z97 mobo you chose, as all the power delivery systems have been moved onto the CPU itself.
Well, unless this is wrong...

See this? MSI Z87 MPOWER - Haswell.

So was I wrong then?
It makes a you know what* out of u and some guy named Ming?
