I've recently been trying to download Windows 8.1 but every time I try, it comes up with the message, "You need to use an account with Administrator privileges to install Windows 8.1, try logging in with the user account of an Administrator of this PC and trying the update again." The thing is, my user is the only computer account I have, and according to my settings, my account is an Administrative account. So why won't it let me download the Windows 8.1 update?!
Right click on the executable then click 'Run as Administrator'. Say yes to UAC (if enabled) or type in the administrator's password (if signed into a limited account).
The MicroSoft Store does does have a "Run as administrator" button when I right click it. It's not an executable.
clearly, the people who have posted, dont use windows 8, otherwise, they would know, that the free upgrade to windows 8.1, can only be accessed via the windows app store
OT:
try creating a new account, and set it as administrator, then try it on there
