I've been using a crap USB headset for a while, and for some reason they were ridiculously loud. I kept their default volume setting at 2/100, and this was a normal sound volume.
Anyway, I got a new USB set, way nicer, and I've been using it for a day now. I wanted to make them a bit quieter so I could hear more of the real world. this is when i noticed that Windows kept my old volume setting of 2/100, it thinks I am using the same headset. It also has the same problem, I nearly killed myself when testing volume levels, I accidentally set it to 100. At 100 they are loud enough to use as speakers.
Annoyingly, the audio level bar in the Sound settings menu is just system volume, so I can't change the default level of the headphones. This effectively removes any chance of me being able to change the volume.
What I'm looking for is either a fix to the problem, or an application that manages volume levels independently of Windows.
I have the same issue on my Corsair Vengeance 1500's. I basically just take a headphone off and leave one on if I want to hear my surroundings, just been too lazy to ask about it here.

Hopefully someone will have an answer! I never cared before because I was just using them for Youtube videos, but I want to use these
new headphones all of the time.

Thanks to anyone who can try to help me.
