I was wondering if I would be able to record Minecraft using CamStudio because I'm not allowed to get Fraps. If I'm not able to, do you guys have any suggestions on a free recording software that's able to record my desktop to also be able to record minecraft. Thank you
Can someone provide a link to MSI Afterburner, because the only one I can find is for overclocking.
youve got the right one, it is an overclocking program with the option to record videos. Whats so special about it is that it uses the gpu to record videos.
One that I've been using (since my laptop is so horribly underpowered for recording that I can't even get Afterburner to open) is a program called BB Flashback Express. It asks you to buy it whenever you open it, but other than that, there is no watermark, or recording length limit. I'm not entirely sure what kind of quality you can get out of it since I have to run it at the lowest settings to keep not quite decent framerates.

Does using the GPU to record improve performance significantly or is it more of a gimmick thing?

it improves performance if your cpu is underpowered, so yeah it does improve performance. But if you are recording bf3 gameplay on a 6770, then it would struggle a lot, probably better off recording with your cpu with fraps. But yeah, depends on what your specs are, it does improve performance.
Yeah I could do that, but it would be nice to know I would be able to rather than download everything and fail in the end.
It's not like the download would take forever, and neither would uninstalling it.
Just try it out, if it doesn't work then uninstall it.
I'm pretty sure you need an MSI GPU for that.
I'm shootin' lasers. . Pew pew pew. . .
lmao.
Have you tried msi afterburner? Use that for games, for desktop use camtasia studio.
EDIT: Apparently they are the same thing.
