fm, maybe this guy is like one of insanely lucky people that somehow bypassed crashes n' junk?
It's not about luck, it's about poor coding. The OS was not usable, and I was forced to attempt to "use" it for almost 3 years. There is no luck about it. Why do you think MS abandoned ME without releasing a single windows update for it?
This was an automatic one, and it had 3 discs, they were labeled but all three had to be put in. OS, Programs, and Drivers. It was completely automatic, didn't have any gateway logos, but was for a gateway.

I can't spell, don't shoot me for it! Computer: Intel i5 2500k (Not overclocked for now) 8GB DDR3, 60GB agility3 SSD, 1TB 7200rpm storage, HIS-AMD HD6870. 3 1080p Screens, and one 17 inch, running on the HD3000 and the 6870.

Are you absolutely sure that wasn't XP? IIRC, that's the only one that had 3 disks. Previous versions were too small, later ones were on DVDs.

Speaking of this Microsoft can you please try to make the installer a bit smaller Ubuntu can be put on 1 CD, would be nice if you guys could at least keep Windows under 2GB or something. Just because DVDs can hold 4.7GB does not mean you need to fill it Microsoft.

No XP is only one, unless its some recovery, which is split up the same way - OS, programs, drivers (some do programs and drivers as one disc, some don't)
And yes, I know the difference between XP and ME. You MUST realize - I am NOT talking about a ME installation disc.. I am talking about recovery discs, ones that are custom made, not stuff spliced into a normal install disc.

Yes but those discs usually don't have anything more customized than auto-installing programs+specific drivers.
Anybody digging the new app store? I know there isn't a lot in it yet, but the ability to play Xbox Live games on it is pretty cool. There is a small selection of helpful apps as well.

Its alright I want a non fullscreen version of it. You cant play xboxlive games you can play some titles are are crossplatform.
In your post you mentioned you saw improvment with you CPU perfomrnace under win8.
Games is something that should see gains or anything else that is lightly threaded.
If you still have a win7 install anyway you would be nice enough to test a few games.

Sorry, but my Window 7 was corrupt, so I didn't keep it. I played CS:GO and didn't see an improvement, but that is to be expected with such a simple game. I will run a GTA 4 benchmark, though. On my old setup I got 64.46 FPS with the settings I had it on.
EDIT: I also like the Bing tiles. It is a good way to get news, certaily easier than googling top news stories.
I posted a picture on Reddit that I thought might be suitable for this thread and offer up some discussion:

I forgot how AOL was an operating system and how it had a desktop too while having a start screen.
O wait that's right AOL was an application and that was not even its main UI.
I just recently discovered that Samsung was going to be making a Windows 8 Phone and was wondering what you guys thought about it. It looks to me like it's basically a Windows version of the SIII with a more square design to it. I'm honestly really interested in the Windows phones and actually want to get one myself after seeing a girl at my school with one.
I personally am waiting to see if the Windows Phone 8 get's released for T-mobile and how the pricing is going to be compared to an SII or SIII.

That's my two cents, and that's why I'm not happy with Win8. My computer isn't touch, and I can't adapt my future workflow to that without spending money.
Nothing about the UI requires touch at all I have been running it sense the Dev preview it does not require touch it is not a touch OS it works fine with mouse and keyboard.

That is like saying android works perfect with a mouse. While everything works, it just feels SO weird and uncomfortable.

fits well. He likes and supports it (mostly) but 99% of the people in the comments don't.

No its not even close to the same thing Windows 8 works with a mouse better then Windows 7 it feels nice.
I can actually get to things faster because its just windows key boom all my games.

I agree. Since when did adding a different menu and using square edges instead of round ones make it a touch OS? The desktop is still there, the task manager is more advanced, performance is a bit better, and now there is a convenient start menu that allows you to go straight to playing games if you want without even opening steam.

In addition, 7 x86 is only ~2.5GB while x64 is ~3.1GB.
8 is around 2-3GB as well.
Oh, seriously? Hmm... that's odd. There's at least one release on 3 disks... maybe back in the floppy era?
I don't think any windows release has been on more than 1 CD/DVD. Floppies are another story (84 discs total for win98 upgrade and 98SE upgrade)
