Please note, THIS DOESN'T DO ANYTHING BUT PRINT OUT STUFF ON THE SCREEN. It just says scary things so people who aren't as computer savvy think something bad is happening.
I still would not trust it. Regardless and simple said. How could I know its not a rat, how could I know its not a silent key logger. Regardless if you put a vid or not.

True, kind of up to trust now.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
I'm a Java programmer, and I'm a terrible artist. Anything else, just ask me.
I got an actual trojan last year called Antivirus 2010, and it did essentially what you described, except it prompted you to buy their fake software in order to remove all of the fake viruses they are telling you are on your computer.
If it actually exists as a real trojan, I don't know if you should try to make a joke about it.
Hey guys, I'm going to make a java program that runs in Command Prompt and have a bunch of scary messages pop up, which to oblivious computer users, will make it seem like its a virus, but it really won't be doing anything except printing the messages on the screen.
Post some messages below you would like to see in the program, I will post a download (and a video of me using it) so you guys know it's not an actual virus.
For one, I absolutely hate people like you for the sole reason that you make a 'virus' to prank people, but if you get caught and the NSA investigates, you go to prison...but I digress...
Problems with your command prompt prank...
1. On Windows Vista and newer computers, mostly just computers setup at stores instead of clean installed by users; come with User Account Control (UAC) active, which prevents the opening of 'suspicious' batch files automatically
2. Batch files (executable files in command prompt for those that do not know), are so 10 years ago, everything now is flash based, java based, or a simple copy all files to a server and wipe client PC code line lol
3. No offense though to the beginning part, we have all done it, just don't do what many have done, and tested out a batch file without making sure @echo settings are correct, or you may wind up wiping your computer because you broke it with a virus that runs at boot and opens the My Computer window endless amounts of times...like I did back in High School lol

It's not really a virus, of course, not only because it doesn't do anything malicious, but because it is not self-replicating. The NSA is not going to be bothered with a small prank program like this.

Wrong. Batch files still execute fine with a stripped security token. Of course since they aren't making it in batch this is rather redundant.

As they say in the first sentence of their post, they are making this in Java.

No offense, but no, we haven't. Not sure how the presented situation would require a machine to be wiped, either.
For effect, I created a fake BSoD that may or may not have your friend(s) restart their computer if they are not computer savvy.
It looks like IE (icon) but launches an image that will disappear on ESCAPE keydown.
It's not a virus, I'll post the code and you can try it for yourself.
using System;
using System.Collections.Generic;
using System.ComponentModel;
using System.Data;
using System.Drawing;
using System.Linq;
using System.Text;
using System.Windows.Forms;
namespace Internet_Explorer
{
public partial class Form1 : Form
{
public Form1()
{
InitializeComponent();
}
private void Form1_KeyDown(object sender, KeyEventArgs e)
{
if (e.KeyCode == Keys.Escape)
{
Application.Exit();
}
}
private void Form1_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
Cursor.Hide();
this.TopMost = true;
}
}
}

That is hilarious.

Came here to deliver. Was mildly satisfied.
It's always best to throw in a shutdown -/r for effect.
:DERP
START %comspec% /c "mode 40,10&title My Popup&color 1e&echo.&echo. GET SERVED SON&pause>NUL"
GOTO DERP
Only run this if you want to cold-boot your computer, coz there's no going out of the loop once you start it...
What exactly does this do?
EDIT: NVM I googled the TREE command.
