I am going to build a computer pretty soon and I picked out a bunch of good parts from NewEgg for my build. I tried to stay under $2,000 so if you think something is wrong with the computer let me know, here are the specs:
OS: Windows 7 Professional 64bit Processor: Intel i7-3770k 3.5GHz (3.9GHz Turbo) Quad Core Storage: 1TB 7200 RPM Internal Hard Drive, 120GB SSD RAM: 32GB of DDR3 RAM
So what do you think? Did I choose the right parts for my gaming PC for playing and hosting a Minecraft Server? If you dislike ANY of the parts please let me know below, thank you for posting!
full specs? Is it ONLY for server hosting or will you also be playing games on it at the same time? Also how many people will be on the server? Also what is your internet speed? speedtest.net
If that pc is only for server hosting then you should just pay a company to host for you. But if you are dead set on that pc, which is just for server hosting you should use linux instead of windows, 8-12GB of RAM MAX.
But if you are going to be playing games yourself on that computer get an i5 3570K, 8-12GB of RAM, 120GB SSD, and, most importantly, a proper graphics card. The one you picked out is horrible and won't play many games.
Nobody noticed that the GPU is a 640? Oh my god that thing is horrendous. Reduce the CPU to a 2500k, or a 2600k if you are running many multithreaded apps. Increase the GPU to a 670 or a 680. What brand is the SSD and what brand is the HDD? How many people are you going to have on the server? What are your internet speeds?

Picked this out instead: ASUS HD7750-1GD5-V2 Radeon HD 7750 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready Video Card

Thank you XD
Also, a few RED drives, maybe 2-6drives .. in RAID 1, 2, or 6 depending on the number of drives you get... (RED drives are desinged for servers)

Before you are even THINKING of running a server we need to know your internet speeds. Then we can start getting a good build out.
Well, he has 32 GB for the server I would suppose.
That's the kind of speeds you need for a server. This test was taken whilst a 3-way Skype call was going.
I've run a webserver and a Minecraft server on this internet, nobody else (including me) noticed any slowdown. It was also 24/7.
(I ran it in some crap old computer I got from a friend of mine.)
That upload speed is way too slow to host a medium-small sized server.
This is my speed and I run a small server sometimes, we don't get great connection with ~10+ people on it though.
This. Mine is good, but still not good enough, I get about 7 up.
Thinking about coming a mod to simply not moderate.
No, way too slow. You need this for a small server. Anything less isn't enough.
