Was looking for a new hard disk for my mythtv box, found a Samsung 1.5TB in a USB enclosure that is cheaper then the bare drive.

Samsung at NewEgg

It comes with a $9.99 free gift... a GENERIC POW-SOCKET HDD Accessory - OEM

One reviewer (the only one) states it does what it is supposed to do.... :/

My question (after a lot of google searching) is what the heck is this socket?

Is that what a POW-Socket is? I don't have a clue, neither did Newegg when I called em up to see what this awesome freebie was...

It could be a euro adapter... but if so, why the US type plug | | next to the euro one o o ?

If using in the US, no adapter needed.
