Hey, I am wanting to build a desktop that can run minecraft at max settings and record with fraps with ease (Little to no lag). It needs hdmi out and I would like to be in the 4-700 range. The lower the better but I would like to be able to play Minecraft, record, browse the internet, etc with ease. Any suggestions? I will build it if it's easier and whatnot. I will be getting a wireless mouse/keyboard and using my tv as a monitor so thats all fine.
This will be able to run minecraft on the highest settings and record with fraps at the same time? I thought i3 wasn't very good. Is it? What would this computer be able to run?

i3 is very good. And yes this will easily run minecraft on maximum settings. The i3 is a virtual quad core, it has 2 regular cores, but each runs 2 threads, so it can do 4 things at once. Don't worry about its performance.

I was wondering because I have an acer 64-bit, i3 2.2ghz, and 4 gb of ram and cant play well.

He's right. This computer could probably run on highest settings, with a 64x64 texture pack, while recording at 50+ fps

Computer Specs: 4GB 1333 Mhz DDR3 RAM- 320GB 5400RPM Hard Drive- Dual Core Intel Core i5 2415M @2.3 Ghz- Intel HD 3000 Graphics- Only $1200! Yeah, I got a Mac, because I'm stoopid. Scratch that: Intel i5 2500k, 1TB 7200RPM Seagate Barracuda, Gigabyte Z68-D3H-B3, 8GB 1333Mhz DDR3 RAM, Radeon HD 6850, Running OSX.
It is a laptop, so that would be the reason? Do you think an i5 would be better? Or would this be able to handle most games and other things?
No, its probably something other than that, more than likely the GPU. The i3 is good for all you need. The processor wouldn't be the next thing to be upgraded. This will handle what you need no problem.

Is there a way to check about the gpu? and could I get some examples on what it can do? Sorry, I just want to make the right choices since you can't upgrade the cpu later (Correct?)
I've got a very good gaming PC. It's an IBuyPower gaming machine. And rightfully so. It has an i7 processor with an amd 5700 graphics card with 6 gb of ram and a terabyte hard drive. Beat that! And it's only 1K$. I think my dad bought it for me from NewEgg.com

thats a pretty bad machine, 5700 with an i7 is pretty crap

That is a pretty horrible deal to be honest. Especially for 1k.
iBuyPower is up there with CyberpowerPC and Alienware in terms of "avoid like the plague".

Thats pretty good. Were looking for a lower price here though. We're looking at under $700 right now:)
And Tycoon, heres some benchmarks of the i3. Really. Its good.
Not sure if you mean USD or something else, but I went with USD!
Heres what I got! Should definitely do what your asking for, at about 670$

i5 6600k 4.6ghz / MSI 280X / 8Gb 2666 DDR4 / Gigabyte Z170X-UD5 / TX550M / 500Gb 850 EVO / NZXT S340 / Corsair K65 / Corsair M60
Thanks! Yeah, the case is pretty boring, but functional. I've read a bunch of reviews that said it was fine.
But Tycoon, if you want a cool looking case, that you know will be reliable, try this build, for about 10 bucks more!

Have you seen the nzxt source 210? Very good case for about $40 I think.
The Antec 300 is ancient and not very good anymore. I would not suggest it. Antec one is ok though.

Looks good. I went ahead and put it in, heres the revised build!

The Phenoms are beaten by the i3 and the i5. Probably because it has an integrated GPU.

Upgrading to an i5 would just be unproportionate to the rest of the build. It doesn't run significantly better, and the value of an i3 is much better.

It was a good deal back then.
