I've tried numerous video editing programs, such as Windows Movie Maker, Wax, and the Sony Vegas trial, but none have worked so well as VideoPad for me. I've been using it for a year and have mastered the program, but there's a big issue: there are very limited effects, and you CAN get more online, but most are useless and there's only about 100 to download. Some really useful effects I'd need is to be able to: unsplit clips so that it's one continuous video (so that I only need to do an effect once), make overlays, and PiP. Does anyone know of such a program?
sony vegas is by far the best or one of the best, it just takes some time getting used to at first because it is an advanced professional program after all, but after you have learnt everything it will be easy to make videos and you will see it is a very powerful video editor.
I've used Vegas,iMovie and premier CS6. Premier is the best that I've used so far. Try it out.
