Well considering on how I can play BF3,and can max MW3 on a PC that is custom and cost 290(overall the upgrades). And no there is no way in hell that PC will max minecraft especially in the new jungle biomes which are extremely unoptimized. Plus that CPU sucks unless you overclock it which is bad for the CPU itself.4GB ram is good.HDD is good. Card sucks unless it is used for HTPC or web browsing(IE9 and such use video cards now). I have been designing and building PC's for 6+yrs now. And have been researching them for 8+. I can design you a good PC that can do A lot for 350 if you want. Email: [email protected]

I am sorry, but you do not. What are the full specs? $290 is nowhere near enough to max a game like BF3.

They are literally no more or less optimized than any other part of minecraft. Everything is a block. There is no "unoptimized" in a game where a jungle biome = add more blocks and larger trees. What you are saying is not only entirely untrue but makes no sense.
Plus that CPU sucks unless you overclock it which is bad for the CPU itself.
All of the processors listed are SUPERB processors given their price. Most come close to the i3 in performance, which in itself is an exceptionally powerful CPU. Overclocking will not significantly increase performance either way, however.
4GB ram is good.HDD is good. Card sucks unless it is used for HTPC or web browsing(IE9 and such use video cards now).
While most cards listed in this thread are not amazing, this is a budget build, thus you sacrifice the two most easily upgradable parts: RAM and GPU. There is nothing stopping him from upgrading later down the line.

If you truly have, which I doubt (no offense) you should know that just because something is low spec does not make it awful, hell most modern games can be run on a 9800GT and a dual core from 2006 on at LEAST medium to high. (I should know, I had one until recently.)
I have no idea what you are going to do in the $350 range that is better than what has already been stated, you cannot optimize such a build any more than they already have without either picking low quality parts or skimping on key areas.
For the record, I've been doing this as a hobby for almost 8 years and as my own business for almost 5, as well as a few certifications and experience in the enterprise environment.
It is just jarring that you would state these things, then claim to have so much experience, because if you did, you would not have stated them in the first place.
Also note that Pentium and Celeron are brands, not CPUs. This might have confused you (it confuses everyone why these product lines are still going) into thinking the listed CPUs are worse than they are.
Passmark isn't the best site to keep referencing, but their charts are useufl and give a good baseline in terms of performance when comparing vastly different CPUs (worthless when comparing similar/like CPUs however due to the test being rather garbage at that point).
I, atleast, try to not be so bold about advertising, especially not making such outrageous claims, BF3 will not run even remotely well on 350 bucks. OS is a problem too, what you gonna use, Linux? Not really game material. Honestly this guy doesn't sound like he has half a clue what he's talking about.
Nobody in their right mind would offer to build a 350 dollar PC either, you'd be getting like 10 bucks for it.

$350 for parts
$20 gas/expenses/delivery
20% ($70) service fee
That's $440
Minus parts and expenses that is $70
Minus taxes that is somewhere around $50-60
So you're looking at around $55 in profit from a job that will take between 6 and 12 hours, 6 being the minimum and 12 bring the maximum.
Alternatively you could skip the testing process that weeds out RMA/DoA parts and have the customer sign a waiver, which will actually net you less not only for the job taking less time but also because any RMA/DoA costs are coming out of your pocket, not theirs.
Sometimes you will get a tip, but it is extremely rare. I ended up having a ~65y/o woman on welfare give me a $50 bill after merely setting up skype and removing a few viruses. Exchanged for a cookie and soda, the job only really took 15 minutes. Even when you get a tip, many times you should not take it. Building relationships with customers is more important than a few $.
Not to mention every semi-literate computer hobbyist will be competition for you, and undercutting your prices every step of the way.

TL;DR Not worth it.
Yeah that's calling someone traditional that does repairs to come assemble it for you, many of those people are very unreliable, and although they may be decent at addressing software issues, they're usually pretty clueless on the parts that go into a well performing machine. Depends who you get really, that's why I tend to not suggest going to the local asian PC shop and ask for a gaming computer, you'll get the cheapest crap they can buy.
I was talking more of a commercial type build and ship business, the effort involved even just to design/order/assemble/stress test/ship would warrant much more money than I'm sure the OP is comfortable paying.
Overall the whole thing is just a waste of time for those involved.

Nah, to my own links. Again, it is still a good baseline site, just should be taken with a grain of salt in a similar fashion to falcon's guide or the other vs. benchmark sites.
You will get the same fps in a jungle biome as you would in any other biome.
Not true actually, the leaves tend to make a bigger CPU impact than other biomes, or atleast that's what I've seen. If you have a good computer you probably won't notice the difference.
Try downloading Vech's super hostile jungle map, where the whole thing is massive trees, that'l drop your FPS like no other. Hundreds of thousands of lighting calculations.

Hmm, I didn't know that until today. With that in mind, I would say that with the default textures you should easily get 60fps while recording.

Nobody's perfect, so neither is Hannah Montana Linux, but it's pretty great.

They all suck. They just suck differently. Sort of like prostitutes.
Probably 60, it's hard to tell really, i don't know how much of a performance hit recording on Minecraft does, it probably depends on the resolution you record at too.
Without recording I would guess you should see at least 120 fps with far and fancy graphics. My fps shifts between 70-100 usually with far and fancy and my components are significantly worse than yours.

Ok. I never said I could max BF3 I said I could play it. And I don't design or build them or both for the money I do it cause I love it and the experience for college. And yes even Jeb admitted in twitter that jungle biomes have issues. Remeber how fast 1.7.3 was? Then they killed the performance in 1.8 then it was awsome in 1.0 and 1.1. The only reason I can say this is I have a PC that a friend uses to play minecraft(his laptop can't) and its a older gateway(P4 era) that has 2GB ram and a 8400GS(I put both of those in) and it couldn't play 1.8 but could 1.7.3 and 1.0 better than 1.7.3 and will not play 1.2.3. I have been designing a PC over the past few months that can play BF3 on high for 512$. And yes you have me beat by several yrs man:) And I wish you luck with your buisness. And in a desert biome or swamp or planes I get around 80+ stable jungle I get around 16. I'm joking I even stopped moving and let it generate and stopped flying still lag. I built my PC back in 07-08 and have upgraded it since then several times. Total cost of my PC is 290. I also didn't buy a HDD,case,PSU,dvd drive, or any acessories. My specs are Athlon II X2 240,2GB ram(have 4GB but thats a long story and a not happy one),EVGA Akimbo 9800GT,320GB+250GB+80GB HDD's,Lite-On iHAS124B,Case is Asus+430W PSU.

That's $650 roughly, while not a ton, it's quite a bit more than the OP atleast.
People like you annoy me, we have an excellent community here who are experienced techs and others who are experienced hobbyists.
People like that are the ones that come in here and go.
THAT(*INSERT PENTIUM 4 PC*) LOOKS GOOD, REAL GOOD GAMING PC, SHOULD BUY.
ALIENWARE GOOD TOO.
If I didn't have such strong morals I'd probably be rich ripping off stupid people like that.
Possibly something along the lines of this, but let other people judge whether that's good or not.

Now I know you're lieing about building PC's/researching them that long. That build is awful.
