Hey i feel like a huge noob (This will be my 3rd topic asking about the laptop im getting's capabilities)but i have a question: Base on the specs below could i play BF3 at decent frame rates? (Perferably on Medium Quality graphics)
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit
2nd generation Intel® Core™ i7-2670QM (2.2 GHz, 6MB L3 Cache) with Turbo Boost up to 3.1 GHz (Quad-Core I believe)
1GB AMD Radeon™ HD 7470M GDDR5 Discrete Graphics™ [HDMI, VGA]
8GB DDR3 System Memory (2 Dimm)
750GB 7200 rpm Hard Drive with HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection
15.6" High Definition HP LED Brightview (1366x768)
Ive heard BF3 is a very intensive game which prompted me to ask this question (I know the vid card isnt the greatest.. But will BF3 need a powerful video card?)

The clocks on your card will run the game decently at the resolution you described. Most people who have issues with it have been having issues with their CPU. 2.2 with a 3.1 TB is plenty for BF3.
Bf3 minrequirements say 3870 performance
it has 320 stream processors.
So no it can not.
is that min requirements or recommended? cause others above are saying i canWould playing BF3 with those specs be an enjoyable game or would it be disappointing?
I personally test a range of GFX cards for games as I have multiple cards lying around. I have played BF3 at High 1024x768 with a card 3-4 grades below yours with slightly worse clocks. For the most part you will play it at 40-50 Fps. The game is enjoyable at 30+ in my opinion. The only issues with it are Origin, and Battlelog.

That is minimum.
The 4670 has 320 stream processors and is the vliw5 arch like the 7470m
Even at a fairly low res it gets unplayable frames at the lowest settings. Granted laptops might have lower res but the 7470 has half the stream processors as the 4670.

The card I tested BF3 on had 32 pipelines. He will have no issues with the game.

it seems that you and Arduouss have differing opionions.
Would this graphics card suffice? 2GB AMD Radeon(TM) HD 7690M GDDR5 Discrete Graphics(TM) [HDMI, VGA]
I suppose i could get a cracked version and test it out? And unrelated to BF3 I want to buy Shogun 2 Total War, with the 1gb could I play high graphic settings?

no shogun 2 with all the little units my 6970 has to run it below max settings.

Can you run it is very inaccurate sadly to say. It doesn't take in most of the specifications that matter when it scans.
its not for my current computer its for the laptop im getting
i5-4690K @4.6GHz ~ ASRock Z97X Fatal1ty Killer ~ EKWB Supremacy MX ~ Watercooled SLI STRIX 970s
Project RedShift
160 stream processors.

Was it a Nvidia card?

480 stream processors good amount of memory and high clocks.
yes at laptop resolution you might get a few medium settings. It is in between the 4770 and the 5570 in that chart leaning more towards the 4770.

what about middle to decent setting because the processor also has a decent say in this yes?
