Okey, I'll just cut to the chase!
I recently bought an laptop, an HP Pavilion dv6-6153 15.6" HD LED to be specific!
However, it still seems to be running MC really bad, I've checked around and with a Quad-core, AMD Radeon HD 6770M and 8GB Ram it shouldn't be possible to run minecraft this way :tongue.gif: It runs really laggy, not like online lag, just makes it feel like I'm playing a really really bad stop motion game or something :tongue.gif:
Make sure the power settings in windows are set to performance.
Are other games slow could be possible you have switchable graphics and with minecraft it is using the slow Intel graphics.
LoL You made me realize I have no clue what I'm doing! would you like to give me a quick instruction on where to go and do all these stuff? That would be lovely!

Alright in the bottom right corner there should be a Battery and what looks like a plugin
right click hit power options
Make sure performance is marked.
Well if you do have switchable graphics most don't detect minecraft as a gpu heavy game but they would skyrim if you have poor performance all around something else is wrong.
Sometimes driver updates can fix graphics switching issues.

I did google alot before I ended up asking you guys for help, some guy said that MC runned fine on his computer untill their last update, then it started acting weird... if thats the cause I just have to wait for the next update and pray that it will fix the Minecraft problem :tongue.gif: I still got my old dusty desktop computer that runs MC like a baws! and that computer is 7 years old :tongue.gif:
Well try the driver update and tell us how skyrim runs.
How close is skyrim to being installed?
I'll let you know when I've installed it :wink.gif:
is kinda a douchebag and downloads it via torrent :sad.gif: (yeye hate me, but I'm mostly checking it for graphic testing ;-) if it works its a win win! mostly I prefer to buy games :wink.gif: Yes I've bought MC, cannot love MC to the max if you're not able to play with other people online! :biggrin.gif: )
I was unable to install Skyrim because of bad torrent-instalation! But I'm downloading Rusty Hearts, Team Fortress 2 and CrimeCraft from Steam! Imma let you know if they run :wink.gif:
I just downloaded CrimeCraft on Steam and it works perfectly fine, no screenlag what so ever! must be something with my computer not recognizing MC as a game that needs the full graphics support :tongue.gif:
If you right click on the desktop you should see catalyst control center click on that.
Look for a tab about switchable graphics.
Then set java has a process that gets the AMD graphics card.
Also some laptops the integrated can be disabled in the bios, but I've never seen it on HP laptops but worth taking a look.
I was told on the server I play on to disable my integrated card and activate my other card (the AMD) but that just messed up thing! Imma try what you said Xaanos! also, if you have some videoes on youtube you think might help me, please post :smile.gif:
This is weird, I found the catalyst control center and tried to make it use max preformance on Java and Minecraft, but when I click the approval button it goes back to "Not arranged" any tips why?
make sure you get the latest BIOS updates via HP's support site, the latest Catalyst Control Centers (11.12), and all your Windows updates. make sure in your BIOS the switchable graphics setting is set to "Fixed" and NOT "Dynamic". also update java (if you can, try getting Java 7 beta Update 2)
of course make sure your power settings are set to "High Performance", and whatever else. can you confirm you are indeed using the 6770M and not the integrated intel gpus?
How can I comfirm that it is not running on the 6770M ?
So make sure your drivers, Catalyst Control Center, and BIOS ( latest one should be F.1B ) are all up to date. MAKE SURE your Switchable Graphics option in your BIOS is set to Fixed and NOT Dynamic! I repeat, make sure it's set to "Fixed".
Right click on your desktop and click "Configure Switchable Graphics". Can you confirm you are currently using what Catalyst Control Center likes to call "High Performance GPU", like so?

Can also be found in control panel.
Try updating your drivers.

Any thing else that is having performance issues?
I don't know, I'm going to install Skyrim and check if that works fine, if it doesn't I'll return the laptop to where I bought it :tongue.gif:
Wish to share how I do that? :tongue.gif:
Don't return it until we make sure it is not a software issue.
If skyrim runs fast then that pretty much will tell us that is happening.
OFC Imma probably gonna call tech support and try every way possible before I even would consider returning it :wink.gif:
What do you mean? or, how will it explain?

I did also update my AMD, because it said I had 6700M, but then I updated it into 6770M :tongue.gif:
