So I have an old Sony Vaio that was given to me a while back as payment for an HDD switch(long story short: Guy was a DJ, lost all his music to a virus) Wiped the HDD, bought a new GFX card (Nvidia Geforece 95000GT). So I can play at medium settings Portal 2 and Crysis at min setting both getting 40+ frames. Now I was looking to upgrade and heres the part list. I believe they are all compatible but a second opinion is always nice.
Reason I picked a C2D is because it still runs most modern games plus my GFX card makes up for the short fallings of a P4 so I figure a C2D should be fine but I will certainly look into newer ones as well

Cheaper then your upgrade and is much faster then the core 2 duo.

Will have no issues with your graphicscard.
Also if you got extra money you could get a better CPU higher clocked.

It is a black edition with that motherboard you might not get very high overclocked if you tired.
