Right after buying the MSI RX 480 Gaming X 4GB I noticed the price had risen up to nearly $300 (as of this post it's now under $219 which is the price I bought it at but that will change). I looked a bit into it and found there were some resellers who bought the card cheap from Amazon then posting it at higher prices... it was close to $300. I imagine this happens with any graphics cards that are in high demand but low on stock...
If you see the card that's way over it's MSRP (Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price), DO NOT BUY!!! For instance, if you see the card I bought at $219 posted on Amazon over $230 (USD), You're pretty much getting ripped off (I think the MSRP for that particular graphics card is $199). Of course if you're willing to pay so much anyway...
So yes. Check the MSRP for that component and buy it for however much you're willing to pay over that.

Y'know? I bought Minecraft because I thought it was a war game where you had to create tactically placed proximity explosive devices...
