Ok, I realize this has probably been asked a thousand times so forgive me. I need the impossible. I need a laptop that will play Minecraft for under $300. I would like to buy a laptop for my son for christmas. Right now he is using a Dell Inspiron 15 R 5520. It has 8gb ram and integrated graphics. It's been working well actually. He does has trouble with some things like FTB was very laggy when he tried to play it yesterday. He doesn't often use a lot of big mods like that though. Other than that it's been fine. I think he had a little trouble with crazy craft too. I do not know how to build my own laptop. I was looking at the dell outlook stuff online. I know I'm not going to get much for under 300, but a little better would be nice. He only plays minecraft and ocassionally sims.
I can get a dell inspiron 3558 for 298. Processor: Intel Core 5th Generation i3-5015U Processor (Dual Core, 2.1GHz, 3M Cache, 15W)

I've owned 2 Dell laptops, 2 Acer laptops, and an Alienware. None of them had overheating issues whatsoever. Also Compaq doesn't make computers anymore, and LG never made computers in the first place. You can't just generalize computer brands like this.
And Intel HD graphics have gotten much better these days.

That sounds like it's gonna be more than $300. The AMD A10 laptop has a slightly better GPU and a worse CPU.
It was more, it was about $450. Someone else on another site told me it was better so I went with that one ( just gonna have to some how come up with the difference). Crud, did I pick the wrong one?

Did you already buy it...?
I remember another member on here (pretty sure it was _Xiae) commenting about how he had a laptop with the same CPU & GPU and it did not do well at all for minecraft. Apparently the M335 is a very underperforming GPU.

Most mGPUs are very underwhelming. Take the 950M for example!

Well yes, but the M335 is quite a bit worse than even the 920M. Apparently it's only *barely* faster than Intel HD 4600, and according to _Xiae, the Intel graphics actually run vanilla MC better.

I can't get the one with Nvidia cheap enough. Does HP ever give out coupons? If it was $30 cheaper my husband would do it. He will not go over $500 :-( Driving me insane! What about this one?

Seriously? $30?
The i5/GT 940m laptop is much better, roughly 40-50% more GPU performance and almost double the CPU performance. Tell your husband to suck it up and get the better laptop.
He's cheap with stuff like that :-( Went with this, probably not the best processor? ( I know nothing about processors) but gotta be better because of the gpu right? I hope :-) My desktop has an i5 4440 and Nvidia GTX 745, it plays minecraft really well, but desktops do better than laptops right? My son is 13, he's not doing serious gaming, just Minecraft with the occasional mod. Please tell me this one will work :-)

The laptop with the AMD A10-8700p should be the fastest out of the 3.
