About 6 months ago I finished my first PC build. It's Average - good in performance and suits me well. One of the reasons I built a computer was so I could upgrade it further-on, and I am now looking to do so. I am not the best with choosing parts for myself, which is why I would like some help. Here are my current specs:

You should give us a little more to go on for what you want your PC to do. What is your budget range? Do you just want a gaming computer? Do you want to know of any incompatibilities?
That's a very good price for that kind of build, but I'd recommend throwing in a new heatsink, as the ones that come with the CPU are usually pure crap.

Yeah, that guy in the avatar is me. I'm *that* strange. It happens. Sometimes people act like that. Just go with it. I can offer help with suggestions even before you post them - NOT make your suggestions - but help you with them.
All good questions. There really isn't a progression of "what should I upgrade first, then second, etc", contrary to what some believe. It all depends on your uses for it and your budget, and those could easily change very fast between now and whenever you do get an upgrade.
They aren't, really. They only perform worse and have much louder noises. If OP can live with that and it's not negatively affecting his/her build, then I don't see much of a reason to upgrade.
Mostly just higher FPS, I get good FPS, but not great when recording. I also feel like it doesn't cool very well when running hardware intensive games. My price limit is around $200 as of now, but I can get more if need be.

I can agree with the louder noises part (in fact, I had one that started buzzing, and had to use SpeedFan to get it to shut up), but it's still worth those better temperatures. Sometimes you get lucky and the stock heatsink works like a charm, even if you overclock to the CPU to the max.
I can't fathom why you think the bigger and better heatsinks perform worse.

That won't get you much. At the most, you might be able to buy a new 280 for Crossfire but that would require a new PSU, putting you pretty far above your $200 budget.
If you're only seeing frame drops when you're recording, that's indicative of 2 things:
Your CPU is not powerful enough to encode the recording on the fly, or
You're running into an IO bottleneck, presumably because you're recording off of the same drive everything else is running from.
If you're using Fraps, it's a lot more likely to be the second case than the first. If you're not, it's probably as equally likely to be either.
If it's the first case I'd recommend switching to Fraps, as Fraps does a lot less encoding than other recorders and puts less of a strain on your CPU. If it's the second, I'd recommend buying a new dedicated recording hard drive.
Thats why I said I had no budget. I don't necessarily need to upgrade now, just something to work towards. I also wasn't aiming for something to buy right away. I am fine with what I currently have, but in the future I see myself needing more.
