So my fan has been running pretty loud lately and I found out it is the cpu fan.
Obviously it got louder when I opened a demanding program so I started up Bioshock Infinite and looked at my XPUID HWMonitor screen.
This is the results. Also attached is a screenshot of the same program monitoring the fans before opening bioshock.
It is also a hot day out and the house was a bit hotter than normal so the fans were running about 3 degrees above their average.
What do you think? My cpu is the AMD FX 8350 and i am using the stock cooler. The video card does get a little louder but when I put my ear right up to the cpu the fan is very loud but when I listen closely to the video card I just hear noise from the cpu above the video card. I swear the video card that I have makes no noise, it's great!
So are the temps too high? Should I get a new fan? It is most definitely the cpu fan as the video card fan is nice and quiet.
Questions/answers are appreciated since the noise has been starting to really bother me and i'm thinking it may not be great for the fans to running so high whenever I open a game.
You should probably post your min and max readings you're getting from your HWMonitor to give us an idea. Give some idle temps and some temps while your system is under load.

Anyone have any info for me? The fans started earlier this week. Is it just time for a cleaning you think? Or should I be looking for something better than the stocks?
I had an HP with a stock cooler that you could hear spin up and spin down and it drove me nuts after awhile, so I switched to an aftermarket cooler and never regretted it. You'll get cooler temps too (depending on the cooler you get).
Installing an aftermarket cooler isn't hard. Basically, just find your CPU's socket type and make sure your cooler (if you're buying an aftermarket one) has support for that socket type. If anything, you can look up your cooler on youtube to find an installation video on it. You will also need thermal paste too; if you remove your cooler you will have to clean off the old stuff and put on new stuff.

Right, but I mean the cpu fan is really loud and it's starting to bother me. Is there any way I could compromise and slow down the cpu fan just enough so that I keep good temperatures on the cpu but the fan is a little less noisy?
Not 100% on this but it seems fans with 3-pin connector are less likely to be controlled with some kind of fan speed control device. A fan with a 4-pin connector can have its speeds controlled (I have no clue about a molex connector however).
You might try SpeedFan to see if you can make your CPU fan a bit quieter. Otherwise you'll have to live with it, or get an aftermarket cooler.

I'll try to figure out SpeedFan and if I don't have any luck I will start looking around for and aftermarket cooler. Since i'm probably not the best at figuring out what I need what cooler do you think would work? My have an AMD FX 8350 and my motherboard is an Asus M5A97.

AI Suite does a good job of fan speed curves on the M5A97, you won't need SpeedFan. As for a cooler, go for something cheaper like a Respire T40, 212 Evo etc, will cool it much more efficiently while being much quieter.

And no i'm not overclocking. How difficult to install would it be?
