When I went on my modpack yesterday, I walked around my base for a bit, I then went outside and flew around the world, exploring new chunks, etc. Whilst, flying around the world my fps rate was in the 100s. It usually increases when I am either in my base or underground (170-200+).
P.S Also I'd like to mention that In the settings, I set my FPS rate to unlimited and my render distance to 10 chunks (I will be increasing it to the maximum of 12 in the near future provided it will run fine).
Also, I just wanna ask. I pressed F3 to see the statistics whilst playing. When I do so much as walk/move in my base I get quite a bit of chunk updates. I took a few steps in my house and got about 80 chunk updates till I stopped and then the number gradually kept decreasing until it reached to 0. Was just wondering if this was normal?
Ah I see. Thanks, i'll be sure to keep that in mind!
Also, I've read somewhere that Minecraft is a very CPU intensive game. I currently have the Intel i5 2500 3.3 GHz CPU (from 2011), even though it runs fine with other games, am I better off upgrading it to a better/newer one to improve performance? I've seen video's of Direwolf20 play his own 1.7.10 modpack (with about 150+ mods) and he seems to run it fine even with 3-4GB of RAM allocated. Despite Java not being able to handle masses amount of RAM, I've also heard from someone that the type of RAM can play a significant role in performance, though this is just from what I've heard. I.e ddr4 RAM is better than DDR3 (the RAM I have is ddr3 1333MHz).
Newer versions of MC do require newer hardware. Try making a vanilla 1.8.x world and see how the PC handles. If you run into problems, then your PC may be to old to run the newer versions.

Flans WW2 Pack
Flans Ye Olde Pack
Gems+
Hats
Iron Chest
Ice Cream Creepers
Lumy Skin Patch
Malisis Doors
Metallurgy 3
Mo Golems
Mr Crayfish Furniture
Not Enough Items
Project Fruit
Project E
Psychedelicraft
Q-Craft
Rei's Mini Map
Sports Mod
Statues Mod
TrainCraft
Tube Transportation
Twilight Forest
Vending Machine
Web Displays
(Plus compatibility mods, that make the actual mods run. I'm also planning on adding more mods in future)
I would like to know what PC specs of mine that I could upgrade to get a better performance in terms of my modded Minecraft experience?
My PC specs are:
CPU: Intel Core i5 2500 3.3 GHz
GPU: Nvidia Geforce GTX 1660
RAM: 16gb (2x8gb ddr3 1333 MHz) (7.1GB of RAM allocated to the modpack)
Storage: Nearly 3TB Free
OS: Windows 10 Pro
What is your current performance? This setting should get 60+ FPS even with 200+ mods

My suggestion would be lower the memory allocated. You don't need 7G for any modpack. For 1.7.10, 2-3G is sufficient.
More memory allocated DOES NOT mean better performance. Java does not handle large amounts of memory effectively.
