Good evening, I´ve been trying (not so tech savvy mom) to make this work, for my daughter for 2 days.
She would LOVE to have the mod: DrZharks MoCreatures Mod 12.0.5. I have now bought Minecraft Java Edition, as I couldn´t do it on the win10 one. Now, I realize I need to install Forge 1.12.1 in order to get the mod. I managed to kind of get it to work yesterday, except, the creatures were invisible. So today I´ve tried it again, but no success. I´ve deinstalled and reinstalled Minecraft and forge several times, but am too stupid to get it going. Can anyone tell me where the problem is and how to fix it?
We currently have Minecraft Java Edition 1.15.2 and Forge: 1.12.1-14.22.1.2478 installed.
The only reason we got Mincraft for Win10 was to get the MoCreatures Mod!
And Forge 1.12.2 along with Custom Mob Spawning for Minecraft 1.12.2 then it should be fine.
You can get the latest versions from Curseforge here, curseforge is one of the most trusted/safe mod downloading sources so best to look to here for anything you need:
Minecraft modding is very particular where 1.12.2 mods work on 1.12.2, not 1.15.2. Sometimes in cases like 1.9.4 & 1.10.2 they work but sometimes either Mojang or the Forge team change code and things end up incompatible so it's best to stick with the exact numbered version.
A note about the game crash, the window with the game crash you presented in the screenshot doesn't give enough information, you'd have to look at where Minecraft is installed to and find a crash report. 1.You can do this by searching for say if on Windows in the search bar for %appdata% to reach .minecraft and you'll see a crash reports folder.
2.Or you can load up the game without mods and open the resource packs menu where it will take you to .minecraft (I'd recommend option 2 as it's much more clear). Doing this me or someone else can try to pick out the conflicts.
A word of warning though when you have the mod successfully installed, you might want to set the difficulty to peaceful so you don't have creatures that attack appear/so they don't have to fight them and so it's a more safe experience as the hostile creatures in the mod can be a challenge. Unless you have them play in creative instead of survival.
Yeah Windows 10 Edition can be good for if you want Minecraft but also to play with friends that are on Console/Mobile or to play for achievements but Java Edition is the more mod centred Edition of the game, it can be complicating with so many versions of the game.
If there is anything I missed or more you want to know just ask. Good luck.

Invisible mobs can be fixed by removing the + from the file name.
It's named: DrZharks+MoCreatures+Mod-6.3.1.jar
What you should rename it to: DrZharks MoCreatures Mod-6.3.1.jar

Do not ask me to switch to newer versions. I will not. Many mods did not update and never plan to, and newer versions just lost the charm.
The following mods have never got to 1.12/1.15:
- Many Many more I can't play without, those are just off the top of my head
The following mods have been completely ruined in new versions:
