Have you ever seen a 3D model and wanted to make it on Minecraft? Well here's how: ModelGen.
Inspired by its 2D predecessor, seen in Osici's Minecraft Editor, the ModelGen will take any 3D model saved as a .obj file (Most good 3D modeling programs can save as that) and add it directly into your Minecraft map! The bigger you make it, the better the resolution! ModelGen allows for setting size and location of the model of your choosing. Unfortunately, it is only monochrome, but that should change soon.
I'm confused, I made the model in Blender and saved as obj but when I try to use the command you that the readme says to use the program says it didn't find the class.
I'm in the right folder, I still get the error, my map is 512x512x128 and it works fine, if I want the model to fill half of it at the center what would be the command I use?
java -jar ModelGen.jar fractalmap.dat fractal.obj 128 128 32 256 256 64
is the command.
I'm not sure about the error. Maybe if I get feedback from somebody else I can answer better, as I will know who's problem it is. Also, you should rethink that massive size. This program is not very fast and is hardware intensive. If you're trying to make a fractal, there are MUCH easier ways to do it with a program.

I like making tools for Minecraft. Here are a few of the ones that I have made so far:
MazeGen (Version 1.0) --- An automatic maze generation tool ModelGen (Version 1.0) --- A 3D model import tool
And I even tested it with Suzzane :tongue.gif: love blender.
What method did you use? I simply drew all the vertices as blocks, which is pretty fast but not perfect and you get a hollow model.
I don't know if this is how he did it, but couldn't you determine the distance between vertices (in a face) in blocks and subdivide it the number of times required to fill it?

Download it here: ModelGen
Also, here was the test sample I used: A monkey head!
NOTE: To use this, you need to download the extra java library Java3D

Also, I've noticed that low poly models go orders of magnitude faster than high poly ones. So quick models in Blender are ideal for this program.

It happens whenever I do this:
java -jar ModelGen.jar fractalmap.dat fractal.obj 512 512 128 256 256 64
cd
where is the location of ModelGen.jar.
For example,
cd C:\Documents and Settings\VDOgamez\My Documents\minecraft
and then your java command.
Speaking of which, you need to specify the bottom corner. From your inputs, your map would need to be 1028*1028*256... XD
Also, you would almost never finish loading... size 50*50*50 takes several minutes depending on the file and your computer...

Here are more details given on the console about the error:

Ahh, DarkDragon. I see the problem. You need to download the Java3D library.
