I'm working on my first mod, which adds more resources, but I don't know how to make the custom ores naturally generate in forge 1.8... a link to a helpful tutorial or just an outline of what I need to do would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
Basically, you need to implement IWorldGenerator and use an instance of WorldGenMinable to generate your ores.
