Okay so, I have created a modpack on Minecraft 1.7.10 (using MultiMC) and would like to play it locally with a friend (possibly through the LAN method). I was wondering if it was still possible to play multiplayer with old versions of Minecraft such as 1.7.10. Because at first I always assumed that older versions of minecraft would no longer be able to play multiplayer anymore considering newer/better versions are available now for multiplayer. And that of course would make old versions of minecraft defunct for multiplayer. But then a video came out a while ago of this youtuber who played Minecraft Beta 1.0 in multiplayer with a bunch of other guys, so I was wondering if it was still possible?
P.S I was also wondering if it was still possible for me to host a private server so I could have a group of friends to play my modpack with me.

yes it is, you just have to host via portforwarding or hamachi, look up a tutorial.
