I'm trying to open my PC hosted Minecraft server for other people who are not connected to my network. I'm able to connect through "localhost", "0", and my local IP address (10.0.0.XXX). As of right now, only people on my network can join my server. I want the public to be able to join with my public IP address. I can never connect through that. It says that the port 25565 is opened on https://ping.eu/port-chk/ every time I have my server opened.
Here's a list of things that I've already done:
Checked to make sure the port was opened when I activated my Minecraft server
Checked that locally connected players can join
Port forwarded my device with TCP/UDP on port 25565
Made sure that Java SE Platform Binary was enabled in my firewall
Updated my Java
Probably an important mention: I've been able to open a server public on my PC before. I used to have Verizon at the time. Ever since I switched to XFinity, it hasn't worked since.
I think I've tried everything. There could also be another program blocking it on my computer, but I checked at my recently installed programs and I don't think that's the case. If it's necessary I'd be willing to share the programs installed on my computer or a list of tasks running in task manager. It also might be an issue with XFinity. Anyone who is advanced with XFinity is more than welcome to help.
At this point I'm willing to take any advice no matter how little it is. I'm desperate and I could use any help that I could get. Thanks!
So much text for a non issue: not able to connect with your external IP from inside the network is never supposed to work period. If the port checking website says it's open, then it's open.

Well, I used to be able to connect with both my local IP and external IP. I don't know why it doesn't work now, but apparently you're right. Just tested with another user on another connection and it worked. Thanks.
